Upgraded my FightStick, Practised Streetfighter for months and the impossible happened.

in #life8 years ago (edited)

After visiting @ezzy and @rea with Bianca ( @bkdbkd) in London, I discovered that besides our passion for Steem @ezzy and I share another common interest.

It's a game called Streetfighter. For me, the most iconic fighter game ever made.

Ezzy turned out to not be a little bit but a million times better at the game than I.

But I don't mind losing when I'm enjoying something. My only goal is to get better at it.

When I got back home I bought the game (Streetfighter V) and went to work.

Me and @ezzy play every week while talking crypto. (what a bonus!)

Just as a reminder. I started playing him with this controller. I realized pretty fast that this thing wasn't going to cut it. My hands are too big and I'm just not used to it.

So I ordered this. A FightStick just like in the arcade where I used to play street fighter II.

When I learned to play streetfighter it looked like this.

Now it looks like this

After playing with it for 2 weeks I realized that I kept missing Input. To clarify. In a fighting game, you have to make a lot of half circles and quarter circle with the stick to do special moves. (like shooting a fireball). If you miss input the move doesn't come out. And that's something you want to avoid at all cost. So I did some research.

I learned that my FightStick is based on Japanse arcade halls and not American. I wasn't used to it and it super hard to master. Because the Restrictor Plate in Japanse fight sticks is square and in American FightSticks it's an octagon.

It's easier explained with pictures.

I ordered the American restrictor plate from a company in the UK. I also ordered 2 colored buttons to give my stick some character.

After installing my Octagon restrictor plate it was like a new stick. It made everything easier. Moves were coming out way more consistent. But I knew I still had to practice a lot.

I was ready to face my nemesis (and very good friend).

I played @ezzy every day for 2 weeks. I could feel I was getting better but every time he would give it the little extra to win the game.

Until tonight. Two months after we started playing.

He played Ken I choose Urien. We played first to 3 wins. It ended up being 2-2 like so many times before and where I lost.

This time it didn't look much different.

He started strong. Kicking and punching me with fast combos.

I was pushed into the corner. All I could do was block and hope.

I lost half my health bar already.

Then I got a break, he missed a dragon punch and I got out. Throwing in some combos of my own.

Normally we talk while playing. Now it was dead silent.

I then made a mistake. I wanted to do a crossover but mistimed. I landed next to him. Defenceless.

He grabbed and threw me straight away. I was almost dead. One punch away.

I then noticed that I had my super bar filled. A super move, when landed, on the opponent, hurts a lot.

I decided to just go for it.

I dashed forward. Jump in unexpectedly and kicked Ken in the face.

He missed his block!! I was too fast.

I ducked and hit him again. (it's called a hit confirm)

This was my moment.

I unleashed the super move.

The screen went black.

I think I heard Ezzy screaming 'nooooooooooo' in my headphone.

Ezzy's lifebar was reduced to zero.

I won! I finaly did it!

Pure luck, man! I had an off day...

LOL! Only kidding! Man, you have improved so much from just a few short weeks ago and play unbelievably well, bro. Masterful and a true expert at this fantastic video game. I've never come across anyone like you in my life. You trained so hard, man! Put hour upon hour into learning the moves down to the damn frame! And the end result is an opponent that's head and shoulders above the rest of the competition...

Well done, my bro! Seriously, you're a great player and an awesome bud. Now for me to try to up my game, lol! Great job... :)

lol! It's a lot of fun playing this game with you man. And having the patience to let me improve. I'm not sure if I could have done that like you have. Thanks so much! It continues to be a blast!

Man, there are many more intense battles to take place. Fun times and crazy moves. We got a lot of awesome "pixel fighting action" to look forward to.

Nice one and well done again, my bro. :)

you both are so crazy lovely people 😍 lets play street fighter on steemit haha steemit would now introduce games also

I hope you win more often! ;)

Congratulations on the win man! You did it!! :)

You really brought back the memories tonight with Streetfighter. I used to play this with my brothers growing up all the time. The graphics on the new game look amazing. I never really got into Mortal Combat like some of ny friends did, Streetfighter was the game for me.

That controller is awesome. I thought when I saved up and got my NES controller that life couldn't get any better, but your arcade style controller looks incredible. Pretty ingenious putting in the octagonal restrictor plate. Definitely would be easier to use than the squared Japanese version.

You've definitely put in the time and effort and deserve the win man. Great job! I'll drink a cold one for ya in celebration. Cheers!

@exyle against me you have no chance lol. I started to play StreetFighter when I was only 12 years old, but by the age of 18 I fell in love with King Of Fighters, my favorite character was Joe Higashi, and team I played more was Joe Higashi, Kyo Kusanagi and Terry Bogard. I miss those times...

I never played KOF, but love the style. I guess many of us that played games back then missed those times in general :). Maybe it has to do with growing older, or maybe games were more 'special'back then.

no offense @pipokinha , but here goes my favorite character Iori Yagami lol

Hahahaha Iori is very good.

well done friend, you did it and no doubt your pure hard work and dedication pays off, well your gadget also helps you alot and it's no doubt with the help of joystick we can feel much good while playing instead of keyboard, i am glad that you finally record your great win @ezzy, streetfighter2 is a fantastic game and great way to have fun and enjoyment with your friends, now your winning streak starts and i hope you will continue this winning streak, enjoy your weekend ahead and best of luck for your upcoming matches.
