Excellent post. The poem certainly is thought provoking. Coming from a military family I totally understand the message.
It's such a shame that so many people, especially the young who play war games on their Xbox or PlayStation revelling on the brutality that they can inflict at the touch of a joypad. They think it is all an exciting wonderful game. They talk of war as an adventure.
People are becoming increasingly indifferent to scenes of war ( not that these "wars" are true wars, but really invasions with intent to destabilise countries) and death...we are becoming desensitised.
It is good to reflect on the bravery of the soldiers who were lucky enough to make it back, and those who lost their lives.

It struck me the same way - perhaps because my family, too, has deep military roots. I joined the Canadian Legion today on the strength of this poem. Life's funny like that.
