महत्वाकांक्षा का मोती निष्ठुरता की सीपी में पलता है।
महत्वकांक्षा व्यक्ति की आंख का ऊंचा सपना है जो साकार होने के लिए उसे नित्य बेचैन रखती है। महत्वकांक्षा मोती की तरह आकर्षक, मूल्यवान,काम्य है, इसलिए व्यक्ति उसे प्राप्त करना चाहता है। वह उसके जीवन की साथ होती है जिसे प्राप्त कर वह जीवन की सार्थकता का, पूर्णता का बोध कराता है। किंतु महत्वकांक्षा का यह मोति यों सहज खुले में नहीं मिलता, शिव के बहुत कठोर आवरण के अंदर पलता है और व्यक्ति को उस कठोर आवरण को तोड़कर ही मोती प्राप्त करना होता है।
महत्वकांक्षाएं व्यक्ति के ऊंचे लक्ष्य होते हैं, इतने ऊंचे के बिना अपने- आप को पूरी तरह संघर्ष में खपाए छुए भी नहीं जा सकते। इसलिए महान आकांक्षाओं को पूरा करने के लिए व्यक्ति को स्वयं के प्रति बहुत निर्मम होना पड़ता है, उसे ऊंचे लक्ष्य के मार्ग में आने वाले अवरोधों से जूझना होता है, लहू-लुहान होना होता है और फिर चल- उठना होता है। है एक कठोर परिश्रम और खतरों से भरी यात्रा है जिसमें वह स्वयं के सुख-दुख को भूल जाता है। वह दलित- द्राक्षा की तरह स्वयं को निचोड़ देता है और लक्ष्य की भेदक दृष्टि रखता हुआ अन्य सब कुछ विस्मृत कर देता है। उच्च स्तर की प्रतियोगिता परीक्षाओं को उतीर्ण करना जिनकी महत्वकांक्षा है वह प्रत्याशी अपने दैनंदिन सहज सुखो को छोड़ बैठते हैं। उसके लिए भुख, नींद, मनोरंजन, सगे-संबंधी, मित्र सब स्थगित से हो जाते हैं, एक ऐसा कठोर अनुशासित जीवन जीते हैं तथा अपने भीतर की क्षमताओं का अधिकाधिक दोहन करते हैं सफलता रूपी मोती अर्जित करते हैं। देश को आजाद देखने की महत्वकांक्षा के कारण महाराणा प्रताप ने घास की रोटियां खाई।

Emotional goals are the higher goals of a person, without being so high, you can not be touched completely in conflict. Therefore, in order to fulfill the great aspirations, a person has to be very cruel towards himself; he has to fight obstacles in the path of higher goal, blood has to be done and then he must rise. It is a journey full of hard work and hazards in which he forgets his own happiness and misery. He squeezes himself like a dalit-grapefruit and forgets everything else, keeping the perceptive sight of the goal. Those candidates who wish to pass high level competition examinations, leave their daily comfortable pleasures. For him, hunger, sleep, entertainment, relatives, friends all become deferred, live such a strict disciplined life and exploit their inner abilities, earn money successfully.
