What Makes You Human?

Hello Steemian, this is @diabolika. Can I ask you a question?

What makes you human?

In my previous article, I wrote that I recently set up my Tinder to promote my business. This is actually a very sneaky marketing tactic but for some, a little heartbreaking, ha! As I searched for some free marketing strategies, I got inspired by this humanoid robot called "Ava" from the film Ex Machina. She had a fake profile on Tinder used to promote the film. Ava redirected her matches to her Instagram and that was how they found out that she is just an AI. Fun yet sad.

I know that Tinder is a popular casual hookup site sometimes used by travelers to find someone to be fucked and dumped during their holiday in this part of the world. Though, not really all, but come on? Not a new thing, not morally wrong in my humble opinion. Who am I to judge what people want to do in their lives? The local girls who are also on Tinder don't mind to be treated like that as some of them are also using the app, uhmm, for their own business, or for fun.

Anyway, I've set up my profile and put my website, Instagram and all the island tours that I'm offering. I have the same profile photo. Surprisingly, I got more enquiries about the travel packages, or at least that's what it looks like. Some people might be swiping in this part of the world so it's free traffic for my website. I actually got busy answering Tinder enquiries lately, so fun. I make my replies sound like a really professional and overfriendly Tinder chatbot.

Though I cannot really avoid those people who are using Tinder for its real purpose, after all, I'm matching with just about anyone. At first, they will enquire about the itinerary and travel packages. Then somewhere in the middle of the conversation, they will start inserting some emotional stuff. This is how I get to be more like Ava.

Now I realized that the only way not to get affected by humans on Tinder is to be like Ava. Over-friendly yet totally unfeeling. I will never be hurt or disappointed because I am not the prey anymore! Now, do I sound like your Machiavellian princess?

I think the most important thing to keep in mind when using Tinder for marketing is to be straight up front just so it won't feel so diabolical toying with men's emotions. Just slightly. The first thing you're going to see on my profile is my website and that I'm offering island travel packages for travelers. What's in it for you? Last minute bookings, personalized tours, and hassle-free travel planning. I need to do this for now until I get some proper TA reviews that might increase direct enquiries and bookings on my website.

Now I realized, this is how it feels to be a chatbot. When someone tries to upset you or hurt you during the conversation, your response will always be the same. Your professionalism, overfriendliness, and empathy are pretty much automated. You don't belong to anyone. In other words, you are not human. Because no matter what others do, the bot will not feel anything. No love, no happiness, no nothing. Nobody has the power to make the bot cry or make her feel happy. Being a bot is her defense mechanism in this world full of pain.

Now I'm starting to think that this is pretty much the same tactic being taught in like Starbucks, Call Centers, Mcdonalds, self-help books etc. The success of these companies can be attributed to how they are turning their workers to become their own slave bots.

Make sure to swipe right on @diabolika.

When you do a job, you have to act the way you are told. You have to be nice. You don't have any option to get angry. Yes, it's similar to bots.

Sad but true.

I never knew about the ex machina Tinder campaign that's freaking brilliant. I loved the movie. I know tinder has advertising via the Facebook network and I wondered how well it does but actually using a profile to market your services thats a different take on it, sounds like an interesting case study and hey can't knock anyones hustle!

I love the movie too! Yes brilliant!

Hehe, thanks for your support. Let's see how it goes!

Haha I was just going to say that it sounds like working in a call center lol.

Haha Yeah. Now with my Tinder call center business lol.

So true... I experience this every working day... We work with "scripts" now and it's just a matter of time before callcenter agents are replaced by AI.

Ex-Machina was badass :-) Loved that movie, and I didn't know about that Tinder stunt they pulled: brilliant! Thanks for a great read again, @diabolika :-)

What would you feel if AI took away jobs? I hope you make your own AI lol.

Yes I love Ex Machina. I will probably watch it again. :)

that was very good marketing strategy . i will apply this three question marketing strategy in the business. thank you for sharing.

I agree with you....that sometimes being a bot is a good defense mechanism especially when dealing with some unpleasant personalities. But not all the time.Being capable of feeling any type of emotions makes us unique- it makes every experience and encounter in life special.

I pretty much only match with bots on Tinder...
Real women never swipe me right, but all the robots love me:)

I understand how you feel. Robots are cool.

I was talking to a girl on tinder about crypto. I hope we get a long when we meet.

I feel most human when I'm going through anger management issues. Being bottish helps.
