3 Ways Fishing Knowledge Can Help You Make Successful Posts On Steemit

Fisherman A and B go to the same lake everyday and 90 percent of the time Fisherman A is the one that returns home with the big fish. Is that a coincidence? Most unlikely. He has learned the 3 keys to being a successful fisherman, and this knowledge can be directly applied to writing a good post in steemit, because in the end we also want to catch a big fish, preferably a whale :)

  1. If a fisherman wants to catch fish he knows that timing is one of the most important things. When are fish most likely to bite ? Naturally when they are looking for food, and that as we know is in the morning and evening. At other points of the day you might throw the bait right in front of the fish and they will just yawn and continue on with whatever fish do when they are not eating. So how do we apply this to posting on steemit ? Well when is the time most people will have time to go and check their feed? I would say after work hours is the best, in my case most of my followers are in the Western Hemisphere while I am living in China. So even though I usually have time to write the article in the evening it is not a good point for me to post. Europe is still working and North and South America are still sleeping. You only have that small window when your post will be discovered so if I have a good post I wait till the next day in the morning and walla the fish are hungry and bite.

  2. Even if you are fishing at the right time and the fish are hungry, if you are not using the right bait, not even a starving fish will bite. So what bait do you use to hook the fish? Well it depends on what fish you want to catch right ? Know your audience as they say. So what is the bait in a post ? It is your headline and your picture. No matter how much time you spend on your content if the fish doesn't catch the bait then they will never see it. Having said this, it is sometimes a good idea to spend a big part of your time on the headline and the main picture, so you make sure that your post stands out in the sea of steemit posts.

  3. Okay so you have the timing and the fish swallowed the bait, but if you have fished before you know that this is not a guarantee for a catch. Now is when the labor comes into play and the quality of your equipment. Make sure to have a strong line that leads the reader through the posts, if the line breaks before the end you still had no use of good timing or a good bait. In a post the structure is important and it should lead the reader and hold the attention all the way to the end so they have a chance to give a nice upvote.

I am not a great fisherman myself, but I think we can all learn a lot from fishing wether it is timing, using the right bait or making sure you have the right equipment for the job. Oh by the way I forgot one important thing, and you will know what it is if you read this far, make sure to have patience it's not everyday we can catch a whale :)

Thank you so much for your support, and I am glad you liked it :)

Definitely some great analogies here... and tips to help the minnows reel in those whales!

Thanks mate, it's a lot of fish terminology here so I figured this analogy might resonate well here on steemit :)
