Some absurd questions become so popular that they need to get some scientific verification. And that was exactly what the "Myth Hunters" did, however, this question comes from South Korea: If an ant falls from a tall building, does it die ? The answer led to a series of mathematical and physical calculations, but in the end it took a dramatic turn that no one expected ...

In the 1990s there was a South Korean show that took that question from Twitter and decided to publish it like an episode: If an ant falls from a 63-story building, does it die? First, the theoretical side of the question was explored. An ant weighs an average of about 2.5 milligrams (depending on the species), and the initial numbers gave it a very good chance of surviving (its terminal velocity would be too low) but the only way to confirm it was by actually throwing one.

The "63 Building" was the Tower chosen for the experiment.

The story tells that the hosts of the program went to the "63 Building", a skyscraper in Seoul and found an effect that no one took into account when performing the calculations: The ants exploded. Yes... and the reason was nothing other than the change in atmospheric pressure. The human being does not have major inconveniences when going from the ground floor to the last floor in a couple of minutes, but such transition for the ants was deadly.
Well... you can always experiment too!

Any attempt to reproduce this experiment today is likely to be blocked due to security measures in skyscrapers with the necessary requirements ... but if someone manages to sneak a couple of ants into a matchbox and climb to the Empire State or a similar skyscraper , Could at least try to confirm whether they explode or not ... The problem, of course, would be to find the ant after the fall.
