Life Of A Young Girl Selling Flowers On Traffic Signals

This post is about a little girl selling flowers on Traffic Lights just to make a living out of it. 

Last week I was just returning from a cultural event in New Delhi. I was in my car with some of my friends. It is summer time in India right now, so the day was pretty hot. Me and my friends were talking about the upcoming events and all. Then a traffic signal turned red and we stopped the car. As soon as we hit the brake, a girl came to our car and offered us some flowers at a cheap rate. At first, we didn't show any attention to her as no one wanted to buy flowers at that time. 

After a few seconds, I asked her why she was selling flowers on the traffic signals in this chilly heat. She first hesitated answering to me but then she replied that she hadn't had any breakfast and even any lunch and she had no option but to sell flowers on traffic signals. Her mother was a house maid and she barely earns enough to fill her stomach for the day. Her father  had a stall of handicrafts on a roadside and he also doesn't earn much. So, she had no option but to sell flowers on roadside.

After hearing this, I offered her some money without buying anything in return but she won't take it without giving anything in return. Having seen that, I realised her pride was more important than her empty stomach. So, I bought only one flower ( a red rose) and gave her a considerable amount of money in return. It was then she accepted the amount and the smile on her face was more beautiful than a sprinkling light fountain. 

So my message is that If you would ever come across such situation in your life, then please help that person. These people doesn't have much to offer and they are just selling this stuff to fulfill their basic necessities. They are not earning a huge profit out of it. Sometimes we should buy stuff from these kind of vendors just to help them. Believe me, it would be worth every penny. Moreover, If someone is asking any help then always try to help him through any means. He is asking because he has no other option and you should help that person out of humanity because it's our kindness which makes us a human being and only this way, I believe, we can make the World a better place to live.
