CrowbarMama vs SpinCycle

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Hey guys! So rather than just take the traditional photo, we celebrated the @CrowbarKids' first day of school by going to an amusement park! While Silverwood is rather tucked away within N. Idaho, it's got some great attractions!

This is SpinCycle, a 104 ft tall attraction that happens to be the first of its kind in the world. It seats 24 at a time and you're seated facing out, legs dangling, wearing only a harness! The seating mechanism rotates 360 degrees while the arm is also rotating. You really have to see this!

Having an open and flexible schedule is definitely one of the perks to homeschooling.
We learned a lot and even found out what to do so that next time we can wear our cameras and get some much better footage!

Thanks for stopping by!

I chose @Crowbarmama as a handle because I believe in doing the best you can with what you have on hand. The crowbar is a multi-purpose tool. You’ll notice my photography is a bit rough, my grammar is not the most polished, but as a homeschooling, homesteading mama of 4, if I waited to take my photos until the light was perfect or re-edited my posts a 5th time ( I shoot for 3 drafts), I would never get a post out!

Don’t sweat the small stuff, just Crowbar it!

What an awesome way to celebrate first day of school! Homeschooling definitely has its perks!

Yeah, I am definitely talking to my mom. We should totally do something like that.

Awwwwwww.....I want to go to an amusement park. I think it was 2 years ago we went. There arnet any nearby.

So much fun!!
:-D

@homescoolkidz Yeah, we are pretty lucky to have one less than an hour away. When we lived in California, there were several, Magic Mountain, Great America, Disneyland, Universal Studios and more, but they were all 3-4 hours away. Thanks for stopping by!

So awesome!
😀👥🏄🏂💃

My 10 yo rode something very similar at Kentucky Kingdom! I could not do it! Then while he was on it I kept saying what did I do?! God please let him live! Lol looks like you had a blast!

@thefarmerswife My very first job was working at our local county fair when I was 14 yrs old. After watching the way they threw those rides together and then watching someone get injured on one of the rides because of someone's carelessness, I swore off carnival rides. At least at an amusement park, they're stationary and get checked regularly, but yep this mama heart still flips when my babies get into those coasters!

I wasn't going to do it, but when I heard that it was sort of a special thing, I figured I had to do it for Steemit! Lol! Sadly, between the bright lights and the overactive exhausted 2 & 5 yr old, my husband didn't get any usable footage of us on the ride. Luckily we got some during the day even though it was a bunch of strangers riding it. 😆

That looks so scary!

@joelai It was actually a beautiful view, but a bit scary!

Hahaha... I'll bet!!

Nope not doing it!

@d00k13 Lol! That was my first impression too! Lol!

My one major irrational fear is of heights, I can do pretty well anything else but that ride would freak the crap out of me! I even conquered my fear of boats mostly but that didn’t involve being suspended 100 ft in the air attached to something meant to give you a thrill lol

Nope still not doing it 😉

@d00k13 Totally getting it. And I wouldn't necessarily call that an irrational fear. I mean, all it takes is one mishap and boom! I mean, realistically I'm sure there are several failsafes in place, but in theory, it takes one mistake with a harness and well, that right there makes it a rational fear.

I for one happen to have a crazy fear of sharks, cougars & bears. Statistically speaking, I'm safer deep in the woods than in a car on the way to the grocery store, but being eaten is just such a gruesome way to go! So to me, it's not really irrational. But that's just my own messed up brain! 😆

I think your on to something there, I will have to say I have a rational fear of splattering when I fall 😅

@d00k13 Right? I'm seeing a post in our future about Rational vs Irrational Fears! Who's the Judge? Things that make you go Hmm...

I worked at Silverwood for 3 summers, about ten years ago. At the time, I rode all but 2 or 3 rides at least once. Now they've added so many more scary ones, and I haven't tried them and likely won't, including SpinCycle and Aftershock. Not my cup of tea! But I do like Tremors now and then. Glad you had a good day there!

@scribblingramma How fun! I missed tremors this time since we didn't have any grandparents with us to stay with the toddler, but my girls enjoyed it! My husband rode Aftershock with my daughter and said he's never experienced anything like it!

We all really loved the train ride and the magician was an incredible entertainer! Thanks for stopping by!
