On Recognition

Let it go.

Accept that you are different and don't fit in. That's all you can control.

"You've got to embrace your inner strange. When you do that, you bring who you are, never who they want. And that, my friend, is when it gets fun." - Wyatt Russell, Everybody Wants Some!

When you seek recognition, even if you mean well, nobody is going to listen. Nobody is going to validate you. No one is going to believe you or follow your advice.

You will frustrate yourself to no end. People become hopeless. Life will slowly reveal itself as Hell.

It's not because they are too ignorant or against you, though.

"...even if man really were nothing but a piano-key, even if this were proved to him by natural science and mathematics, even then he would not become reasonable, but would purposely do something perverse out of simple ingratitude, simply to gain his point." - Fyodor Dostoevsky, Notes from Underground

They can sense your desire for recognition. They know that you will say anything to gain it. It, essentially, invalidates everything you say.

If you really mean for your words to help people, let it go.

What value, after all, would recognition have if it were something that we could ask for?
