How You Can Make Fear Your Greatest Motivator

The fears we don't face become our limits.

Fear changes us. It changes the way we see this world and influences our very future. As a kid, my fear led me to make some terrible decisions that I still regret up to this day. Most people let fear consume them which makes them vulnerable to failure and disappointment later in life without realizing it.

I remember back in high school how I used to be scared of all the bullies and I used to think that there's no way out and I deserve everything wrong that was happening to me. It was only after a few years that I realize that whatever happened to me has made me a stronger person and more capable of tolerating harm.

Even though its okay to be afraid, it's really unhealthy and dangerous to let it be the reason of your inactivity. I know that doing something even if you're scared is a really hard task, but it's worth the effort. If you want to conquer your fear, you have to make yourself believe that you're stronger than you think.

Illusion Of Control.

Why do we fear? Is it because we think that we're not good enough? No, of course not. Fear clouds judgement and your ability to think rationally. It makes you feel as if you're not in control of your mind and letting it take over you is the best thing to do, which is just an illusion and nothing else.

If you want to use fear as your motivator, you have to have the want to become a better version of yourself. You have to look at the reward and not just the risks. A swimmer doesn't stop swimming because he's scared of drowning. A soldier doesn't stop fighting because he's scared of dying.

People who overcome their fears not only have a high self esteem, but are looked up as role models in our society. I understand that stepping out of the comfort zone can be really hard for some people, but even if comfort zones feel safe, they can't offer progress and development of self.

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.

- Jim Morrison
