Steemit Story Slam Compeitition - Treasure Hunt: Where To Search?

in #life7 years ago

This month's competition is serving up a bit of a twist...

I'm sending you on a TREASURE HUNT!

The treasure is the audio or video story
you bring back to share with us.

This competition was originally launched as part of a tribute to Stuart McLean, storyteller extraordinaire, after he passed away in February of this year. Browsing through his recordings reminded me how satisfying it is to listen to a good story. I made my way through most of Mr. McLean's work and, from there, set off on a search for other Tellers and their Stories.

Much to my dismay, there were not as many - Tellers or Stories - as I had imagined there would be. The one site I was most familiar with was the The Moth. (I shamelessly stole the 'Story Slam' phrase from them for this competition, btw.) But, other than that, there aren't many sites dedicated to the art of storytelling.

That's why this is a Treasure Hunt.

There ARE storytellers out there. It's my hope we can find some gems to share with a wider audience. Feel free to use a selection or three from The Moth. They have plenty to choose from and it will showcase that many more folks. If nothing else, it may give you an idea for a key word search on YouTube!

Maybe you know someone that always has a tale to share. They may be willing to have you record one or two of their favorites. Heck, it might even be an opportunity for you to share Steemit with them! Win-win!

Good luck, Steemians...
This is your shot to claim a bounty for your find!
