Why People Who Think They're Right Are Often Right

Some of the most fascinating books about the American public include "The Great American Novel" by Mark Twain; "Ladies of LIberty" by Arthur Miller; and "The Sound of Music" by Edith Nesbit. These are just a few of the more popular titles on this list of the best-selling authors of our time. I can't speak to any of these books honestly, but I can tell you this: most people who think they are right always do. The reason is that they don't realize they are right until something happens that makes them realize they were wrong. Sometimes this happens when a new idea or invention comes along that alters our culture or society in a way that the original authors never dreamed possible.

The most famous of these people who think they're right is usually a woman. Whether it's Lady Gaga saying she feels like she knows what people want or Oprah Winfrey being candid that she believes people are born optimists, everyone has an innate optimism that can make them very successful and popular. Unfortunately, this optimism is infectious, so it's not always easy being a confident, Optimistic Woman. Just keep in mind that being an Optimist is also the best strategy for living a life that is full of both success and failure, as there will be both.

This line of thinking is dangerous, though. If you have an opinion that you feel strongly about, be sure to take some time to really think about it before acting on it. If it is something you think could change the world for the better, but you are afraid to try it because you are afraid of what people might think, then how can you truly say that it's good? Think of your opinion as a product, an idea that you created that can sell. Once it sells, then you can test the idea and see if it is good for you.

Another thing to keep in mind is that people who think they're right always have an interest in other people. And when you think you're right, you tend to want to spread your opinion. The only way that people can stop doing that is by not listening to you; and when they don't listen you might start acting in a defensive way, even if you really mean to help the other person. People will always try to help those who need it most, so if you're acting selfish, it may backfire on you.

When you think you're right, you might want to try to convince yourself of something different, in order to avoid getting all wrapped up in how things should be. Most of the time, when you're right, it's because you think you're right, not because you know what you're right. So if you find yourself agreeing with something others say, then you might want to think about whether that's the right thing to do.

One good way to keep yourself from getting all wrapped up in what other people think is to use "self-control". This goes hand-in-hand with thinking that you're right and convincing yourself you're wrong. If you constantly convince yourself that other people are wrong, then you'll end up being one of them yourself. The more you practice self-control, the more able you become to believe your own judgments. And the more people who disagree with you, the more you'll have to convince yourself that their point of view is wrong.
