7 Rules Of Achieving True Happiness

in #life5 years ago

There are hundreds of books and complicated theories that tell us about happiness and how to achieve it, but it really is not as complicated as it seems and it is not necessary to read long books to improve our lifestyle and feel better about ourselves. In this article we explain the 7 simple rules to achieve true happiness.

First of all we must understand that money has absolutely nothing to do with being happy. There are lots of rich people out there that are not truly happy. We must also understand that happiness is a state of emotional, so it is not present in our days permanently and uninterrupted. They are just some moments of our life in which we feel self-fulfilled, satisfied with ourselves and also prepared to take on new challenges.

To maintain a positive mood day by day we must learn to manage all types of emotions, both positive and difficult. Even the happiest people in the world have bad days, but they do not see it as personal, they simply accept it as part of life. In this way, we will be able to judge ourselves less and we will have a more positive predisposition towards the circumstances that we face.

THE 7 RULES TO ACHIEVE TRUE HAPPINESS

1. Live the present

Many of us have great concerns about the future of our lives, we are concerned about knowing if we are really doing the best for our future and not knowing it causes us great uncertainty, an uncertainty that we do not always know how to manage and can translate into long nights without sleep. On the other hand, many other people remain anchored to their past, constantly thinking about the things they did not do at a moment or the mistakes they made.

That is why the first rule we must respect is to live in the present, we must learn to live the day to day of our lives, learn to enjoy every moment and understand that everything in it has its time and we must make the most of it, without torturing ourselves about the past or the future. Only when everything has happened, we will see more clearly why the experiences we have lived and the importance they have had for our lives, we must learn to connect the points.

2. Be true to yourself

Normally we are pressured by the people around us, in some way and sometimes even without realizing it, they exert some pressure on what we do and the decisions we make. This is a mistake that most people make at some point in our lives, but the quicker we take control of our decisions, the quicker we will understand and feel good about what we do.

Finally, it is not the others who will live your life, you will be yours and you will have to take responsibility for your successes, but also your mistakes. Therefore, the second most important point to achieve happiness is to learn to be true to yourself, you must pursue what you really like and hold on to it, believe in what you do and do what you love. If you feel that you have not achieved what you like or have not achieved what you have proposed, do not fall into frustrations or headaches, it is about continuing to try and stay persevering about what you want and remember, you must learn to connect points.

"Do not let anyone tell you that you are incapable of doing anything, not even me. If you have a dream you must keep it. If you want something, go find it, period, you know? people who fail to achieve their dreams often tell others that they will not get theirs either. "

This phrase is taken from the movie " In Search of Happiness ", where Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith play , if you have not seen it, it is an excellent film to understand rule number 2. It is inspired by the life of Chris Gardner, an adventure where he had to be a father without a house and persevere, until he became a multimillionaire, with great recognition in the world of entrepreneurship.

. 3. Reserve a time to disconnect

We all live with many obligations and as we get older, they seem to multiply. Normally we reach the point of living full of stress, taking the projects in which we participate, the work, the problems and the goals we want to achieve wherever we go, even to bed if necessary.

This is one of the basic mistakes that are usually made, we must learn the importance of disconnecting stress and discover what are the activities that help us to do so. That's why the third rule is to reserve time to disconnect.

Some people get it doing sports, outdoor activities, dancing, running, doing yoga, playing an instrument or just doing nothing, as you can see in this funny video about "The Nothing Box". In short, there are infinities of activities that can help you and you should get the one you like the most and make you unplug the stress and forget about it.

In addition to those moments of disconnection, we must learn that everything has its space, both work, family, friends and the activities in which we participate, so we have to know how to separate things, to enjoy and perform effectively in each one of them.

4. Enjoy your time alone

The fourth rule you must respect is to enjoy your time alone. Nowadays, with a world so moved and full of activities, it is often not easy to find those moments alone, where we can forget the world and go at our own pace and really connect with what we are doing.

Hghly creative people often spend long moments alone and that is, the greatest discoveries are made within oneself . It is in those moments alone, when we are in bed and we can not sleep or when we write about a project without our creativity being interrupted, that ideas arise or that we reflect deeply on a subject. That's why it's so important to learn to enjoy your time alone and make sure you spend one or two hours a day.

5. Do not compare yourself!

This is one of the most common mistakes in people, to compare ourselves with others is a mistake that we should avoid at all times. First of all the comparisons are subjective and unfair, because when we evaluate another person, we can only evaluate a part of them, not 100% of their reality, we can know their appearance, but not what they really are or have been inside them and last, the information we have about others is limited and is also biased by the perception we generate about them.

That's why we must learn to compete against ourselves and always do it looking for personal improvement, celebrating the achievements and learning from the conflicts we have lived, finally this is where the character of the people and their life experience are forged.

6. Manage fear correctly

Fear is necessary for our survival, it is to protect us from any harm. But we must learn to understand where the fear that we feel comes from, so that we can react in the best possible way.

For example, if you are about to be the victim of an armed robbery or you have a wolf growling right in front of you, the fear is real, it means an existing danger that can affect your integrity as a person.

On the other hand, if the fear you feel is to failure or rejection, it is only a possibility, and in this case you must face it frontally.

If you never face any presence of fear in your body, you will never be able to achieve things that are really worthwhile, you must learn to take charge of the situation that you live and face it . Surely most of the achievements you achieve in your life, you will achieve using fear to push you to overcome them and not to inhibit you from trying.

7. Everything is a matter of ATTITUDE

The last golden rule that you must take into account to achieve real happiness, is the attitude with which you live your days. We all tend to be loaded with work and many times we go through life with the autopilot on, moving from one place to another practically like robots and almost without being present. We also forget to enjoy everyday activities, we stop assessing all the things we have achieved and built over time, moving to live, much of the time of our days, almost in a plant state.

We must understand that the attitude with which we face everyday is the key to living fully with ourselves and our environment. Because many times we make the mistake of receiving badly what others try to communicate and take the problems of work at home and vice versa, we have to take responsibility to get up with energy and give everything in the day to day .

If you take care to comply with each of the 7 rules, be assured that you will live in fullness every moment and you will know how to make the most of those moments of happiness that perhaps are not so followed today.
