What You Are Really Telling Others When You Indulge In Social Media Drama

in #life6 years ago

Whip out the popcorn! It's drama time!

As entertaining as it may be for spectators, passersby and a general audience that honestly have no idea what's going on, there's a lot going on deeper down the rabbit hole.

I absolutely do not respect people who take it to social media to air their problems as they seek attention in a negative way.

Why do they do that? I've no idea.

What I know for sure is that they're totally deluded. They miss out on these messages they're telling the world.

1) "I am an adult who's X years old but I haven't gotten my shit together!"

That is why you're bickering and fighting online.

You're not proving a point. You're merely trying to hurt others.

Oh, don't give me that nonsense about how "age is just a number" and that you get to do whatever it is you want despite. People who spout that dogma to defend something dubious are just not mature adults, period.

That said...

2) "I lack so much self-preservation that I am a shameless tool"

If you're an adult, you'd keep up with self-preservation. You'd absolutely care about what others think of you.

"But isn't caring about what others think only going to hold you back in life?" is what one would typically argue, but come on, everybody does care to a certain degree.

The ones who fully don't? They are either super inspiring figures or deluded losers.

The former have other redeeming qualities, such as not creating drama on social media. Go figure.

3) "I don't have any real friends, I only have enablers"

So you think that you've tons of friends because they 'liked' what you said, shared what you posted or contributed a comment? What more, some of them backed you up and attacked whoever it is you're attacking!

Wrong.

These are not your real friends. They're only your enablers. And trust me, they will not get you far in life.

Your real friends who want the best for you will tell you to stop with this childish shit and tell you how stupid you really look. They'll give you the truth even though it hurts. Then they'll be there for you in person so you can start making real shit happen in your life.

4) "I will do the same to you"

It really doesn't matter who you're trying to shame online, be it your ex-girlfriend or boyfriend, your boss, your teacher or even your bully.

The fact is that you're taking up a solution which is the easiest for you (thanks to the wonders of technology today.)

Intelligent people around will be wary of how reckless you've become. They will know for certain that you may turn the tables against them. They will distance themselves from you.

I mean, you were once close to your ex right? If you could turn hostile towards someone you were once in love with, it only goes to show how fickle you can be.

5) "I haven't achieved much in life, that's why I need to be validated by social media currencies"

I am going to be blunt here: Only people who haven't done shit and achieved much in life need social media currencies just to feel like they've a place in life.

Instead of real trophies, medals, praises or feeling proud from amazing art you've created, you need likes, shares, comments and followers to feel validated.

Oh, don't tell me about how there're so many influencers and celebrities on Instagram or whatever whose livelihood depend on such currencies. They real ones got to where they are today by doing real shit in life! Not the other way around!

Still feel proud of how much social media currencies you've accumulated? Unless it's for a meaningful cause that can actually help others, you really shouldn't be.

6) "I dare not look in the mirror to see who I really am. I don't dare to face my real problems head-on"

Nuff said.

The aforementioned validation is simply a way for insecure people to avoid their own problems as they revel in the currencies to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Straight up, if you want to start becoming a better person, then face your problems head-on and deal with them even though it means facing the ugly side of you or your inner demons. Yes, this also includes realizing that some of your friends are nothing but enablers and hence you should totally avoid them.

Social media is at most a dimly-lit path for you to walk and that's not much better than a dark one.

7) "I am completely oblivious to everything that's mentioned in this article"

Because you're too deep in the drama.

For your own sake, it's time to grow the fuck up and get the fuck out.

If you have a friend who's acting like a tool online, it's time to wake them up with the truth.
