There is the premise that individuals are inherently evil as opposed to good. That doesn't remove the cognitive dissonance of letting those who have a tendency towards evil, and the aggression and motivation necessary to attain political office, be the ones to decide how the rest of us are to be controlled.

It would be interesting to know the percentage of politicians, as compared to the general public, who possess the Warrior Gene. If you read the following article:
