Most expensive Metal in the World! ( 27 million US)

The most expensive metal in the world is named the "Californium 252" the cost of one gram of Californium is 27 million dollars per gram.

"Californium is also the heaviest element to occur naturally on Earth, although it is generally found or synthesized in connection with nuclear processes. Alas, its half-life of less than three years combined with its radioactivity makes it rather unattractive for investment purposes"

Californium emits a large amount of neutrons making it very useful, indeed it is used to discover and detect gold and silver in metal ores. It is also used to treat specific types of cancer where other radiation treatments are less effective.

In some domaines there is no alternative for this metal. Till this day the Californium 252 is made in only 2 places in the world, one of them is Dimitrovgrad Russia.

Since 1950 only few grams were made of this metal but it still more expensive than the "antimatter" so why such a huge price such a small quantity ?

You see the Californium 252 isn't a normal metal, it's a synthetic metal, it making procession takes years and years...it's main component is the Plutonium.

Despite of the choking price the Californium is still highly demanded, but it's clients have to wait years for it's making procession and the life span of 2.5 years.
