MELALEUCA FOREST
These are some recent photos I took of a nearby Melaleuca forest that we can walk through to get to one of our local beaches. I love the unusual shapes of the trees, and the way the sun glistens through the tops of them.
This species of Melaleuca is called Melaleuca quinquenervia, also known as the paperbark tea tree, or broad-leaved paperbark. These trees love to grow in swamplike conditions, and you will find them along the east coast of Australia.
Melaleuca forests provide the perfect home for many native species of birds, in fact certain birds such as the great-billed heron will only nest and breed in the Melaleuca forests.
