Hiking Through Hooker Valley

One of the most spectacular hikes I ever embarked on was on the South Island of New Zealand, in the Mount Cook/Aoraki region. It was December, which is summer time in the Southern Hemisphere, yet we were surrounded by the snow-capped southern Alps, gushing glacial rivers, suspension bridges and frequent landslides off in the distance.
