[미국 약사 이야기] Recall - Valsartan

지난 주부터 Valsartan(발사르탄)의 리콜이 문제가 되었습니다.

미국 FDA에서도 7/13일에 제약회사 Major, 7/17일에 Prinston(Solco) 과 Actavis(Teva)의 Valsartan 및 Valsartan/HCTZ 제품의 자발적인 리콜을 발표하였습니다.
이유는 발암물질로 알려진 Nnitrosodimethylamine (NDMA)이 검출되었기 때문입니다.
약국에서도 정해진 프로토콜에 따라 해당 제품이 폐기되도록 조치하였습니다.

FDA의 이번 발표에 따르면 환자들은 교환이나 다른 약물로 대체하기 전까지는 해당 약물을 계속 복용하도록 권장하고 있습니다.
하지만 가급적 빨리 의사나 약사에게 연락하여 조치를 취하는 것이 좋겠습니다.

Patients should contact their pharmacist or physician who can advise them about an alternative treatment prior to returning their medication. Patients who are on valsartan should continue taking their medication, as the risk of harm to a patient’s health may be higher if the treatment is stopped immediately without any alternative treatment.
