'The Varied Eggfly Butterfly.'

The beautiful Varied Eggfly Butterfly (Hypolimnas Bolina) is a large butterfly from the Family Nymphalidae. They live in the coastal areas of Northern Australia and their wingspan reaches between 7cms and 9 cms
As the name suggests, the colour of female (above) Varied Eggfly Butterflies varies considerably but usually their upper wing surfaces mirror that of their undersides. You'll often find patches of purple iridescence in the darker areas of the upper wings depending on their stage of development.
Females fly closer to the ground than the males in their search for host plants where they choose to lay their eggs. Varied Eggfly caterpillars feed at night and during the day they are found hiding beneath leaves away from the food plant.
