KFC (formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken) is a franchise trademark of Yum! Brands, Inc., headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Created by Colonel Harland Sanders, KFC is known for its fried chicken, which is usually served in a "bucket" of paperboard.

Colonel Sanders started selling his fried chicken in 1939 at his restaurant on the curb in Corbin, Kentucky, which then moved to a motel. It closes in the late 1940s during the Interstate highway through his town. In the early 1950s, he began to tour the United States and meet Pete Harman in Salt Lake City, Utah, and in 1952 together form the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the world (the restaurant would not use the name). Sanders sold the entire KFC franchise in 1964 with 2 million USD, which has since been sold back three times. The last owner is PepsiCo, who is heading to Tricon Global Restaurants' company division now known as Yum! Brands, Inc. In 1997, Tricon separated from PepsiCo.

Colonel Sanders sells fried chicken made in 1930 in the midst of the Great Depression. A petrol station belonging to North Corbin, a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of southern Kentucky.

The diner called Sanders Court & Café, which was quite successful and he was honored by Kentucky Colonel in 1936 by Kentucky Governor Ruby Laffoon. The following year his restaurant became 142 Chair and he started adding a motel he bought across the street.

When Sanders prepares a chicken restaurant in North Korum, he presents chicken in an iron skillet, which spends about 30 minutes cooking (but too long for restaurant operations).

In 1939, Sanders changed the process of cooking his fried chicken and using frying pressure. So when cooking is greatly reduced by frying.

Not only do the increase in production speed, but the method produced flakier, chicken moisturizing. Between 1939 and 1940, Sanders also compiled what came to be known as the Original Recipe, of 11 spice herbs. In 1940 he completed the Original Recipe 11 herbs and spices.

SANDERS used salt and pepper for his recipe, from the material used then Sanders recommissioned (new commission) as Kentucky Colonel in 1950, by Governor Lawrence Wetherby. Since then dressed with his trademark.
