To understand the nature of God means: He has not got two kinds of fire. All doctrine must conform to what God is in Himself. If God never changes neither does His fire. God’s nature is fire, just one kind. The fire that fell on Mount Carmel is the same fire that fell in Acts chapter 2. But it has a different effect. The fire of God tests each one, what they are. It fills believers with dancing joy but scorches the godless. The impact upon different people is vastly different. What we are determines what the fire will be to us or do to us. The prophet asked “who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? (Isaiah 33:14) Well, some can with delight, but some cannot. “Thank you for your fire, Lord Jesus.”
