Contest: Photo time week #49// Capturing the Flow of a Single Afternoon
Helloš„° to the wonderful ITALY Community! My name is Chidera Daniel Ben, and I'm thrilled to participate in Photo Time Week #49 from Aba, Nigeria!
The concept of "time passing" is a fascinating one. While the contest rules often show subjects changing over long periodsālike a plant growing or a pet agingāI wanted to capture something equally profound: the simple, beautiful passing of moments within a single afternoon. Time doesn't just pass in years; it flows in seconds, bringing a subtle but constant evolution of mood, pose, and interaction.
My Interpretation of Time Passing
In this series of photos, I've captured myself, along with a significant moment of interaction. The shift from one image to the next, sometimes only seconds apart, shows a journey of expression and attention, illustrating the fluid nature of time.

Moment 1: Confidence and Contemplation.
The first few images capture a moment of self-reflection and u. I'm dressed up, feeling sharp in my patterned shirt and mustard-yellow trousers. My smiles are bright, and my poses are deliberateāa hand in the pocket, a confident stance, looking forward and to the side. This is the 'before' moment, where the world is paused for a photo, and the focus is solely on the mood of the individual.

Moment 2: Breaking the Frame
As the camera keeps clicking, the mood shifts. Thereās a shot where Iām kneeling, perhaps more contemplative or relaxed. This represents a subtle shift in the passing timeāa moment of rest, a change in posture, a break from the initial energy. It shows how even the briefest passage of time can move us from one emotional state to another.
Moment 3: The Interaction of Time
The most significant change, however, is captured when the focus moves from self to interaction. In these images, an elder gentleman walks into the frame, carrying a red bag and a large, dressed chicken.
This represents a major shift in the flow of time. My attention immediately moves from posing for the camera to acknowledging the person and the task at hand. You can see me looking down, ready to engage in the reality of the moment, which is clearly a transition pointāa delivery, a greeting, a brief but important exchange.
This transitionāfrom a state of isolated posing to a state of real-world interactionāis my personal interpretation of "time passing." Time isn't always marked by a calendar; sometimes, it's marked by an event that changes your attention and posture in an instant.
Technical Details
All these photos were taken on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, right here in Aba, Nigeria.
I used my friend smartphone camera for the shots (infinix hot 40i), focusing on a clear, bright portrait style to make the expressions and the colorful outfit really pop.
Thank you to the @Italygame team for hosting this contest. I truly enjoyed thinking about how to creatively capture the theme! I hope my journey through a few moments of an afternoon resonates with the judges.
