Durante il mio primo giorno all'Avana, incautamente, scrissi che la citta' mi sembrava un po' meno sporca rispetto a novembre.
Dopo un paio di giorni in giro mi resi subito conto che...avevo scritto una cazzata.
Mentre Las Tunas, pur avendo zone luride dove la gente accumula rumenta come di fronte allo stadio piccolo della pelota, tutto sommato dal punto di vista igienico e' ancora vivibile la capitale, soprattutto in alcune zone, e' una cloaca a cielo aperto.

Ho vissuto in centro Avana, un barrio che mi piace, pieno di vita e casino ma purtroppo e' diventato una cosa di una zozzura intollerabile, ed io non sono propriamente una fighetta...
Pero' uscire di casa e trovare immondizia ovunque non e' esattamente il modo migliore di vivere una vacanza, fosse anche di pochi giorni come la mia nella capitale.
In Virtudes poi, a pochi metri da Paseo, praticamente a ridosso del Capitolio davvero ci si imbatte in enormi cumuli di immondizia che giacciono da giorni.

Io li vedo gli "aura" le persone addette alla pulizia, con il loro scopino che tirano su tutto quello che trovano, ma possono andare bene per la lattina o la cartaccia che i cubani, fottendosene di tutto e tutti, buttano per strada, ma di fronte ad enormi cumuli ci vogliono mezzi adeguati, tutti i giorni, tutte le ore.
Vedo anche loro passare ma sono in numero assolutamente insufficiente per una citta' di oltre 2 milioni di abitanti.
I consumi sono aumentati per tutti, tutti acquistano di tutto e cosi' la rumenta aumenta a dismisura, e' un problema che non si puo' piu' affrontare con i vecchi metodi.

Parliamo anche di zone turistiche, vi posso assicurare che un turista europeo che vede una montagna di rifiuti in pieno centro citta' non la prende benissimo.
Questo a prescindere dalle malattie che certe situazioni possono procurare.
Il problema va risolto, se lo stato non ha i mezzi o la benzina per far fronte al problema allora privatizzi il servizio, l'ho gia' scritto piu' volte, se lo stato non ci arriva si affidi alle gestioni private.
Certo occorre pagarle, ma almeno ti risolvono il problema che oltra a danneggiare la popolazione influenza negativamente il turismo.

Poi certo occorrerebbe un minimo di educazione da parte della gente, noi siamo abituati a non buttare la roba per terra, ci hanno cresciuti cosi', ma e' anche vero che da noi ogni 50 metri c'e' un cestino dell'immondizia, mentre da loro devo andare in giro per km con una lattina in mano prima di trovare un cestino mezzo sfondato.
Sono cose che per noi turisti hanno un valore negativo fino ad un certo punto, ma per i cubani che in quei luoghi ci vivono e' un problema che si aggiunge a tutti gli altri che devono affrontare.

During my first day in Havana, I thoughtlessly wrote that the city seemed a little less dirty than in November.
After a couple of days around I immediately realized that... I had written bullshit.
While Las Tunas, despite having filthy areas where people accumulate rubbish like in front of the small pelota stadium, is still livable from a hygienic point of view, the capital, especially in some areas, is an open-air sewer.

I lived in downtown Havana, a barrio that I like, full of life and chaos but unfortunately it has become something of an intolerable filth, and I'm not exactly a pussy...
But leaving the house and finding rubbish everywhere is not exactly the best way to experience a holiday, even if it's just a few days like mine in the capital.
In Virtudes then, a few meters from Paseo, practically right next to the Capitolio, you really come across huge piles of garbage that have been lying around for days.

I see the "auras", the people in charge of cleaning, with their brooms that they pick up everything they find, but they can be fine for the can or the waste paper that the Cubans, not giving a damn about anything and everyone, throw on the street, but in the face of huge piles you need adequate means, every day, every hour.
I also see them pass by but they are absolutely insufficient in number for a city of over 2 million inhabitants.
Consumption has increased for everyone, everyone buys everything and so the rubbish increases out of all proportion, it is a problem that can no longer be addressed with the old methods.

Let's also talk about tourist areas, I can assure you that a European tourist who sees a mountain of waste in the middle of the city does not take it very well.
This regardless of the illnesses that certain situations can cause.
The problem must be solved, if the state does not have the means or the gasoline to deal with the problem then privatize the service, I have already written it several times, if the state does not get there then rely on private management.
Of course you have to pay them, but at least they solve the problem that in addition to damaging the population negatively influences tourism.

Then of course a minimum of education would be needed on the part of the people, we are used to not throwing stuff on the ground, they raised us that way, but it is also true that in our country there is a garbage can every 50 meters, while in their country I have to walk around for kilometers with a can in my hand before finding a half-broken bin.
These are things that for us tourists have a negative value up to a certain point, but for the Cubans who live in those places it is a problem that is added to all the others they have to face.
