Easy and delicious recipe to cook Khichuri for Iftar

After fasting all day during the month Ramadan, one wants to eat something nutritious, easy to digest and tasty for Iftar. Khichuri is one such food that provides quick energy to body aids in digestion and is also quite easy to prepare.It is cooked with rice, pulses, spices and sometimes meat vegetables which makes it tastier.Today we will discuss simple recipe for cooking Khichuri for Iftar.

Some common ingredients required for cooking khichuri are:

Basic materials

Rice – Basmati or Atap rice

Lentils

the water

potatoes

onion

tomato

Green chillies

Ginger-garlic batter

spice

turmeric powder

Cumin powder

garam masala

Salt – as per taste

ghee

dry chili

cinnamon

bay leaf

cloves

cardamom

Khichuri cooking method

First step is preparation of rice and dal

Wash the rice and two types of pulses well and soak them for half an hour. Then drain the water.

The second step is frying potatoes and onions

Heat oil in a kadai or pressure cooker and fry potatoes in it. In the same oil, add chopped onion and when it turns light brown add ginger garlic paste.Add tomato salt turmeric cumin powder, dry chillies and garam masala and grind masala well.

The third step is adding rice and pulses

Stir the washed rice and dal in the ground masala for a while, so that the masala mixes well. Then add four cups of hot water and stir and cover.

The fourth step is the final stage of cooking khichuri

Cook on medium flame 15/20 minute stirring occasionally. When the khichuri boils, add fried potatoes and ghee and cover for another 5 minutes.If using a pressure cooker, 2-3 cts are enough.

Serve hot

Your delicious and nutritious khichdi is now ready! Serve it with curd, beguni, papad or salad for iftar.If you want, you can roast a little beef fry an egg with it.
