Buongiorno a tutti cari amici.
Come state? Spero bene.
Allo stesso modo, cioè alla grande e in forma perfetta si trovava il famoso re Enrico IV, protagonista di questo dramma, prima di cadere da cavallo, e ancora più in salute lo sarà dopo la caduta.

Oggi condivido con voi un bozzetto per una scenografia di un'opera teatrale, un dramma in tre atti, scritta dal famoso premio Nobel per la Letteratura Luigi Pirandello.
L'Enrico IV è considerato dalla critica il capolavoro dello scrittore italiano.
L'opera è uno straordinario viaggio nel mondo della pazzia, e della finzione della pazzia, che ci conduce a riflettere sui ruoli che ci troviamo ad interpretare nella vita noi, esseri umani, personaggi, attori, tra la finzione e la realtà (verità).
Il doppio io, essere e apparire, è un tema caro a Pirandello, al giorno d'oggi è un tema centrale del mondo virtuale dove tra fake, bugie, mistificazioni di fatti, trucchi fotografici, doppie personalità, furti di identità e altre diavolerie, Pirandello avrebbe trovato fonti e spunti inesauribili per la sua arte. Con certezza possiamo affermare che ha anticipato di 100 anni la rappresentazione dellle doppie personalità, i finti atteggiamenti e il culto dell'apparire così devastanti nella rete internet, e non solo.

Ma torniamo alla nostra storia: il protagonista è un nobile dei primi anni del 20° secolo che partecipa ad una cavalcata in costume, vestito appunto da Enrico IV, cavalcheranno insieme con Matilde Spina una donna di cui lui è innamorato e Belcredi, il suo rivale in amore.
Belcredi, geloso, disarciona Enrico, il quale cade da cavallo e batte violentemente la testa.
Il duro colpo lo farà diventare pazzo e durante la sua malattia verrà accudito dai suoi nipoti.
Dopo 12 anni egli guarisce, ma continuerà a fingersi pazzo.
Perchè?
Egli si accorge, dopo la guarigione, che è stato disarcionato volutamente dal Belcredi, ma prende anche coscienza che ha perduto ormai per sempre l'amore di Matilde legata sentimentalmente al Belcredi.
Allora Enrico sceglie, con razionalità, per la sopravvivenza e soprattutto per darsi una concreta forma di esistenza, di continuare a fingersi un folle per non provare dolore, quel mal d'amore che soltanto un pazzo potrebbe ignorare.
E' geniale questo passaggio! Continua a fingersi pazzo per trovare un lenitivo alla sofferenza interiore, la follia non sente i mali dell'animo.
Una condizione in bilico tra realtà e finzione, tra normalità e follia, che porterà Enrico IV ad un gesto efferato di cui non parlerò per costringervi a leggere il testo.
Torniamo al mio bozzetto:
la scena rappresenta una grande sala con il trono al centro. La centralità del trono (individuo) integra ed esalta tutto ciò che è doppio:
il trono e l'astore in proiezione dipinto sul fondale.
Doppie colonne monolitiche, doppie porte ad arco.
L'esaltazione del doppio è marcata dal pavimento geometrico a scacchi, una partita psicologica dell'uomo, giocata contro la realtà in cui è costretto a partecipare in ogni giorno della sua vita.
Perchè l'astore dipinto ad acquarello sul fondale?
La scelta è maturata dalla "falconeria" tecnica di allevamento e caccia con i rapaci usata anche anticamente nelle uscite a cavallo.
Bene, l'astore è il rapace più difficile da addestrare, quando pensi di esserci riuscito, il suo temperamento imprevedibile lo porta a ribellarsi o ad allontarsi con scatti repentini, al limite della nevrosi.
Niente di più idoneo che identificare la doppia personalità, con un rapace campione del volo, e della predazione, allo stato naturale, ma anche il più imprevebile e variabile nel comportamento, in caso di addestramento.
l'astore è un animale istintitvo, impulsivo che si lascia condizionare facilmente, ma che di fronte ad un obiettivo, (la preda) sceglie istintualmente l'azione da compiere.
Al centro in alto sopra la testa dell'astore con un gioco di linee delle ali del rapace va a formarsi il vortice, simbolo chiaro del risucchio nella follia.
Concludo sperando di avervi interessato e magari dato spunti di riflessione e approfondimenti.

Today I share with you a sketch for a set design of a play, a drama in three acts, written by the famous Nobel Prize winner for Literature Luigi Pirandello.
The Henry IV is considered by critics the masterpiece of the Italian writer.
The work is an extraordinary journey into the world of madness, and the fiction of madness, which leads us to reflect on the roles we find ourselves interpreting in our lives, human beings, characters, actors, between fiction and reality (truth) .
The double self, being and appearing, is a theme dear to Pirandello, nowadays it is a central theme of the virtual world where fake, lies, mystification of facts, photographics tricks, double personalities, identity theft and other devilries, Pirandello he would find inexhaustible sources and ideas for his art. With certainty we can say that he anticipated 100 years of the representation of double personality, the fake attitudes and the cult of appearing so devastating in the Internet, and beyond.

But let's go back to our story: the protagonist is a nobleman of the early twentieth century who participates in a costume ride, dressed precisely by Henry IV, will ride together with Matilde Spina a woman of whom he is in love and Belcredi, his rival in love.
Belcredi, jealous, disarms Henry, who falls from his horse and violently beats his head.
The hard blow will make him crazy and during his illness he will be looked after by his nephews.
After 12 years he heals, but will continue to pretend to be crazy.
Because?
He realizes, after healing, that he was intentionally unsaddled by Belcredi, but also realizes that he has lost forever the love of Matilde linked romantically to Belcredi.
Then Enrico chooses, with rationality, for survival and above all to give himself a concrete form of existence, to continue to pretend to be a fool not to feel pain, that sore love that only a madman could ignore.
This passage is brilliant! Continue to pretend to be crazy to find a soothing inner suffering, madness does not feel the ills of the soul.
A condition in balance between reality and fiction, between normality and madness, which will bring Henry IV to a heinous gesture of which I will not speak to force you to read the text.
Let's go back to my sketch:
the scene represents a large hall with the throne in the middle. The centrality of the throne (individual) integrates and exalts all that is double:
the throne and the goshawk in a projection painted on the backdrop.
Double monolithic columns, double arched doors.
The exaltation of the double is marked by the geometric checkered floor, a psychological match of man, played against the reality in which he is forced to participate in every day of his life.
Why the goshawk painted in watercolor on the backdrop?
The choice is gained from the "falconry" technique of breeding and hunting with birds of prey.
Well the goshawk is the most difficult rapacious to train, when you think you have succeeded, his unpredictable temperament leads him to rebel or to move away with sudden shots, on the verge of neurosis.
Nothing more suitable than identifying the double personality, with a rapacious champion of flight, and of predation, in the natural state, but also the most unpredictable and variable in behavior, in case of training.
the goshawk is an instinctive, impulsive animal that allows itself to be easily conditioned, but which, faced with a goal, (the prey) instinctively chooses the action to be performed.
At the center above the head of the goshawk with a play of lines of the wings of the bird of prey forms the vortex, a clear symbol of the backwash in madness.
