Isn't it about time we start preserving important books on the blockchain?

Hello people of Steemit. We are making an introductory post today to tell you about a new plan for the Steemit blockchain. We are calling it the Steemit Library and it will be exactly as the name suggests.

We believe that there are some books, some literature that deserve to be preserved for all time, and with the advancing march of technology, we fell it is now time to start adopting that preservation into blockchain technology.

Steemit is an incredible place filled with incredible people, talent, stories, photos, art, poetry, technology and many other things. It is quickly becoming a society of its own, and what worthwhile society is without a library?

We aim to publish historically important literature here, in an easily navigable format for all to read and enjoy. The books that we post will all be freely available in other online formats, but we believe that it is important to preserve them, and make them available here as well.

In line with Steemit's social guidelines on plagiarism and copy/paste articles, and in the spirit of patience, meditation and analysis that these books deserve we will be hand copying them word for word, chapter for chapter, book for book into the blockchain. We will cite sources for all of the books that we post and we will encourage readers to check our work for accuracy.

We thought it fitting that the first book to be published here should be Ray Bradbury's classic tale of censorship and dystopia Farenheit 451, part I of which will follow immediately in Steemit Library's next post.

We have several books planned to add to the library so far, but we will also be encouraging readers to make suggestions as to which books we should post next.

We hope you enjoy the Steemit Library, please read to books, because as much as we try to preserve them in print, online, and even now in blockchain, the most important place for them to be is in your heads!

Since we are living the book now, I think Orwell's "1984" should be next.
