Hola Steemians! I’m very excited to start sharing my real life adventures of how the Universe kicked myself and my partner out of the Hong Kong highlife and onto the roller coaster ride of manifesting our dream off grid life in Southern Spain.

Hi! I’m Sally… a channel, healer and real life blogger who doesn’t do ‘fluffy’ fake air kissing or superficial hugs that last too long. I follow my heart, say it as it is and I love a giant glass of vino blanco with a great big bowl of salt’n’vinegar crisps.
I believe in the Universe and trust the flow… but I also know that sometimes you just have to keep it real.

For 23 years I flew the skies as long haul cabin crew with what used to be known as the world’s favourite airline and 12 years in, I went part time when I discovered my wuwu gifts and a whole new world. I’ve lived in Brazil, run healing retreats, run my own holistic healing practice, drunk too much, loved too much, laughed, cried (a lot), followed my heart and generally done what I was told not to do. I’m now living in the Spanish Alpujarras with the love of my life although I didn’t know it would be him when we were drunken teenagers stumbling and fumbling around the Edinburgh nightclubs. But we finally got it together… 5 years ago. I’m stubborn and he was patient. Very.

When I finally saw the light in my mid forties, I moved to Hong Kong to join him. The highlife was a whole new world to me. I loved a lot of it and I struggled with a lot of it. And then 2 years later, on an average afternoon in the Spring of 2015 it all came crashing down.

They called it restructuring, but in layman’s terms it was redundancy. My partner had been IT Director for Asia Pacific for a FTSE 100 company and as much as the stress of being in the high echelons of corporate life was making him ill… it was not a role (or salary) to walk away from.

In all honesty our heads weren’t ready… but our hearts most definitely were. The proof was in all the pictures on our vision board of European snow capped mountains, funky barn renovations, straw bale houses and basically anything quirky, off grid, nature based, home grown and animal loving.

The redundancy package was a joke… the potential new role was a complete nightmare and not even guaranteed… so the decision was half heartedly made to look for another role. Truth be told… staying in Hong Kong made both of us feel more sick than the thought of being out on our butts… but we were in a state of shock and fear and our heads were most definitely running the show.

And then, literally within days, the Universe went one step further and took our half hearted decision out of our hands.

We were served notice on the flat we were living in. Yup. Within 3 months we would be without an income and without a home. And in Hong Kong, you can’t get one without the other.

Our initial reaction was that we were screwed… but there was admittedly a tiny glimmer of underlying relief and excitement amidst the terror.

We had no back up plan. No savings. And at that point, my online channelling and healing work could only support a wee church mouse on a diet.

So this is where it all began. The Universe answered the call of our hearts… our heads freaked out… and the manifesting kicked in.

We packed up, knocked back a decadent bottle of Cristal on our last night and headed back to our home city of Edinburgh in Scotland. We thought it would a good place to start a new life. How wrong could we be? Very wrong, as it turned out. The best thing to come out of being back in Scotland, was the adoption of our furry baby, Sir Maxelot. He’s an old rescue greyhound, the size of a mini pony and rather unsociable. Simply put… we all fell in love.

But as I sit here sharing this with you all right now… we ARE living in Southern Spain. It may have be pissing down with rain the last couple of days but the mountains are now dusted in snow… we’ve been through the mill… questioned… doubted… sworn at the Universe… sworn at each other… had emergency hospital runs… amazing sunsets… miracle breakthroughs… flash floods and ‘WTF have we done’ moments… but we are living our dream and living life to the full… and there isn’t a designer label in our wardrobe… because we don’t even have a wardrobe… it’s just a metal rail.

More importantly… we don’t even have running water yet… but… I’ll save the challenges of feral peeing for another day.

Here in the Spanish Alpujarras we have found community, a connection with the land and we’ve found ourselves… and life has meaning beyond the Kardashians.
