Introduction - A Balance of Chaos and OrdersteemCreated with Sketch.

The onset of depression is sometimes triggered by externalities, while other times, it seems to glide in from nowhere. Does depression stay with you like an invisible rain cloud which doesn't let up? I've battled with it throughout my youth and have made large strides in my progression. I've lived with depression for nearly a decade, and during that time, I became aware of how the negative feedback within my environment was a large contributing factor. Furthermore, through the help from many different anonymous online avenues (Reddit, TED Talks, etc), I was able to identify the irrational fear of social interactions as the root of my entanglement with depression.

Pinpointing the fact that I had social anxiety helped a lot on my road to a better mental state. Once I understood that the root of my depression was largely anchored with my social anxiety, my soul felt uplifted. The movie of my past projected before me and I could see all of the embarrassment and shame from that period were drawn from the same source – interaction with others. I was no longer questioning my sanity. I now had an understanding and an ability to plan a roadmap for myself.

It's been a few years since I made this discovery. My current self is still a work in progress, but it's almost night and day in contrast to my prior self. I feel very hopeful and I'm very grateful for communties such as Reddit, Medium and now Steemit for developing a supportive and inclusive group of truly caring people. I'm very glad a friend showed me this platform and I look very much forward to figuratively undressing myself fully, in hopes of helping others as well as myself.

Hello Steemers, my name is Tiffany and I'm very glad to be a part of this community :)

Hi, Tiffany! I am so glad you have discovered the root of your entanglement with depression. I remember the times in my life when I suffered depression - once inside the bottomless pit of depression, one needs a lot of support, and even professional support, to get out of it again. I have learned how to disable the pit's powerful attraction. Writing in communities like Steemit is most certainly one of the best ways to do it. It can actually gives you the power to rise and fly far above the danger zone - (what I call the pit's power). Well, this is a metaphorical explanation. As you know, depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain/body - the shortage of serotonin. It could be triggered by the merest event. Therefore we should continuously encourage the brain to release positive chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine - in other words, we should do what we enjoy doing, such as interacting with like-minded people in Steemit. I am new here - still searching for friends - and now on my way to follow you :)

Hey Martie,

Thanks for the input. You're right and I believe everyone suffers from it in some degree in certain points of their lives. It's a constant battle and it's important to introspect and understand yourself so that you can better equip for that fight.

When I was younger I didn't have much support and was without an outlet for these types of conversations. With the prevalence of the internet and sites such as these, where I can connect to people like you has helped tremendously.

Thanks for the follow. I'm also new and I'll follow back :)

Welcome to steemit, happy to have you here

If you could give more effort in your posts, it'd be greatly appreciated

It does seem like a lot of these comments are not from humans. None of them mentioned me by my actual name lol.. a bit disappointing.

Welcome to Steemit LOL, no but seriously most people will try to suck dick for a few steem pennies. It's just part of the allure of the app :) Don't worry though, it's a good community once you get past that

Thanks, Mr. Frenchie! Enjoy your life a Steem blogger :)

This is a very raw and personal first post, Tiffany. Thanks for read and I hope you're not too discouraged by the bots. It's true that there are a lot of them around here, but the amount of quality humans definitely trumps them.

Welcome and I hope you stick around :)

Thanks and I'm not discouraged. They are just playing within the rules.. and I was being dramatic lol. Cheers!
