Welcome to Steemit, Michael. You are not the only one who missed out the chance on bitcoin when it was first out in a market. :) Glad that here you are in Steemit and I totally agree with what you said.
But I believe the basic ideas behind crypto, i.e. blockchain, decentralization, virtual cash, etc are here to stay.
