RE: Does self voting needs to be stopped in steemit.com

in #introduceyourself7 years ago

Why people raises this question I don't understand.Do you assure a minnow gets votes for good content soon after he publish the post.A self upvote increase the visibility of the post for minnows. It helps them.So leave it like that.Minnows should have full support.Cheers.

That will not guarantee that their content is good, a lot of good content is not visible due to self voting by whales, who are controlling the steemit content.

Give it time cryptopizza. A lot of the wales dump a ton of money into steemit, only to lose it back into the community by upvoting their poor content. Their loss, the community's gain. They'll continue to lose steem (or transfer more wealth into steemit, only to lose that as well) Sooner or later, that will catch up to them. The community will benefit because their steem will now be out there for everyone else. The people who continue to crank out good content will gradually work their way up and build a solid and faithful following. The whales who do not produce good content will eventually lose their following. Money can promote your post, but it can't buy you loyal friends. Eventually the good content creators will come out on top.

I hope that change will start soon.

You just have to be patient. It may not happen soon. It may take years. But things always eventually balance out. Look at Walmart. They were riding the top for a very long time. No one thought they could ever be taken down. Now comes Amazon. Walmart can no longer compete. Amazon is crushing them. Look at Google. Same thing. No one thought anyone could stand up to Google. But along comes Facebook. Facebook is giving Google a serious run for their money now. Facebook is so big and powerful Google can't buy them out. Facebook is riding the top....But they have gotten too greedy. They financially rape their advertisers and pay nothing back to the content creators. So what happens? Along comes Steemit. I believe Steemit will crush facebook. Because there is a need for content creators to get paid for their content. The minnows are building teams and coalitions. If among those teams and coalitions there is good content, that good content will rise rapidly. Those who rise will have steem + good content + a very loyal following. I don't care how much a whale has, none of them can compete with that.

That's what I'm thinking. Like anything in life, the first person to help you stand up is yourself. The second are your parents. There's nothing wrong with giving yourself a leg up and asking your friends and relatives to help.

Do you think that people doing that practically?? They just doing that for using the loophole of social media I think. They are doing that everyday and all content.

Whenever you take a bite of food are you doing that for yourself or someone else? Whenever you choose a job, are you doing that for yourself or someone else? It is normal human behavior to put self first. In fact, without putting one's self first, it is impossible to help others. I have no problem with people promoting themselves first. But those who do not remember the community that built them will eventually fail. Look at how many whales have lots of followers yet they follow no one else. Look at how many get lots of upvotes but never upvote anyone else. How long do you think people will really follow them in hopes that they'll repay the favors? Eventually people shun those who become too greedy. Having the competition encourages the coalitions and team building that minnows engage in in order to get ahead. Those who engage in this team building and work their way up by producing good genuine content are going to remember their friends when they become wales. Those who were previously following greedy whales will rapidly shift their attention to the wales who were generous.

Exactly, the same view I have and I have wrote this post couple days ago, Please check it out here : https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptopizza/why-you-do-not-make-money-even-with-enough-votes-and-good-content-does-self-voting-needs-to-be-banned-in-steemit

I think the solution is rather than having Steemit force a change on the next hardfork, do what you are doing by building a coalition of minnows to make change from within the community. The free market always works best.

Good content always prevails. On the web, content is king. All of the social media had crap posts in the very beginning. Over time, content improved. The same will hold true here as well.
