HTC wants to "remodel Internet" with Exodus, its smartphone dedicated to blockchain and cryptocurrency. New trend or marketing move? The firm is not the only one interested in this technology.

The HTC manufacturer has decided to ride the wave of success of cryptocurrency and blockchain. The two terms are often associated and are part of the "buzzwords" of the moment, but the technology goes a long way, so we talk about blockchain revolution. The subject is of interest to everyone, from Facebook to smartphone manufacturers. This is notably the case of HTC which has just announced the Exodus, a mobile presented as "the first smartphone optimized for the blockchain in the world". A turning point according to the Taiwanese firm that wants to "reshape the Internet" and should unveil its U12 at the end of the month.

A smartphone ahead of its time or just a marketing move ?

The announcement of this new Android model is very different, the Exodus (diagram below) being designed to support blockchain applications. It will be able to operate the DApp (Decentralized Applications) and will particularly target cryptocurrency enthusiasts. Indeed, the Exodus will embark a universal wallet and will be able to support virtual currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Security will also be one of the priorities of this smartphone which is not the first to present itself with this label. Sirin Labs has already announced the launch of its blockchain smartphone. It is expected for the month of October and will be sold for $ 1,000, recalls The Next Web. The Chinese giant Huawei has also announced its intention to arrive on this new sector.
