#introduceyourhometown @redtravels
I am from Merida Yucatan Mexico and I am going to take you on a tour, I'll start with the oldest church in north and south America, it is over 2000 years old made by the Mayan ruins which now make up the downtown city centre My great great grandparents are buried underneath that church and their marker is on the floor of the church. Next I'll show you a house downtown, they have 500 year old doors and when you go in them this is what you see.. A beautiful courtyard the rooms are on each side The next two pictures are from the parks of the America's four different parks on each corner, I used to live across the street so I played there alot, this is the chacmol a Mayan God and her I would climb and sit on top This next picture is in the middle of a round a bout in the most popular and most beautiful street in Merida This the the theatre Peon Lopez Contreras anyone can come for free and see plays concerts symphony its so much fun This next one is just a side street downtown Next we go across the street through the park to Montejo house he came from Spain he was a conquistador and founded the city and built his home there in the fifteen hundreds this is the door to his home Are you hungry? There are street vendors everywhere selling all kinds of goodies this is a marquesita its like a crepe and it has cheese from Holland and chocolate or freshly made jam. Last on the list I'm on top of the theatre looking out to the tower of the oldest church I hope you enjoyed my tour there is so much more to do in Merida but I thought this was long enough lol , if anyone is going to Mexico go to Merida! The beautiful city full of culture and history thank you and happy travels!
