Hell of a title huh?

So this piece of trash showed up in my newsfeed. It was such trash I decided to analyze it and explain what is wrong with it.

Titles are frequently used to quickly sum up what something is about, ie this news story about "stolen data from your facebook". For someone browsing through and not reading the article, they would indeed be lead to believe their data was stolen.

Cambridge Analytica (a data firm) used this data it bought from 3rd party app developers to help Trump have better social media advertising. Was it stolen? No. Facebook has shit policies that allow people to buy data(in fact it is why Facebook is free, you are the product, your data is what they sell). Most people know this and realize this, this is no secret at all.

BUT it helped Trump win, so they will say it was stolen. Because the MSM needs to make it sound nefarious because Clinton was their candidate(or someone else). Funny how when Obama's social media team did the same thing they were praised as revolutionary geniuses!!!!

Lets go through some paragraphs of what Gizmodo says happened and see what bullshit we can find!

• Ohhh wait, so in the first paragraph it was stolen, second paragraph first sentence it was compromised, second paragraph second sentence it is now "swallowed up", and then in the same sentence "it's probably a good time to change your settings anyway". So non-chalant about it like wtf??? It was stolen, then compromised, which are both bad words, but then it was swallowed up and if you want to avoid being swalloed up it is PROBABLY A GOOD TIME TO CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS ANYWAY. The level of idiocy is mind blowing

• Now it jumps away from stolen to obtained again. And now it is Facebook's fault it was obtained(stolen), I thought it was the thief who is at fault for stealing right? ;) And then it says "misusing Facebook data". From obtained to misuse.

• So the data was stolen, but don't worry because facebook suspended two more research companies, because you wouldn't want to BAN or SUE companies who steal your data right, just suspend them? Oh but now it boots a data company for "misuse"(not sue) from personality quizzes rofl. And it kicked out another one(not sue), govt investigating a company for having online quizzes.... FACEPALM

• He testified while not under oath, which is useless.

• Oh whats this? Facebook employees are "caught off guard" by the backlash? eh? Because the kind of data acquisition at the heart of this scandal is standard practice for every other tech company(google/apple). But wait, thought the data was stolen? So now Cambridge Analytica didn't steal your data once again, no, it was acquired and a standard practice FB/Google/Apple do. Now FB is under fire for playing fast and loose with who has control of data(but they keep saying it was stolen!!!)
