Men Get Longer Jail Time For Same Felony In Norway. Why Is The Patriarchy Doing this To Men?
This doesn't make sense does it? Why is the patriarchy judging men to longer and harder sentences than women? Wouldn't a patriarchal system be harsher on women, like we see in Sharia law?
If there is a patriarchy, why are they harsher on men than women? That sounds counter productive if they want to uphold the patriarchal structures?
I'm asking because I want to learn :)
One answer that Adele Matheson Mestad, assistent director at Norway national institution for human rights bring foward is that judges get hungry..and that they should eat more often - because more food means more rational judging.
Yeah..hmm...that does not quite explain why they judge men harder though..

Because "patriarchy" only exists in the minds of feminists.
It is the female boogeyman.
Men are programmed to protect women. Its in our genetics and upbringing. So, naturally, men protect women from harsh sentences and other punishments. It is what men do, when we are figuratively in charge.
Not only do women get lighter sentences, they get easier, more luxurious accommodations. Some can even have their children come to visit them and stay the night.
Under matriarchy, all those signs "my body, my choice", they fall on deaf ears. Your body, our choice is the way of matriarchy. They will decide who can and who is fit to procreate. And the laws are much different. If you think women are emotional, just think about emotion based laws.
But hey, murder, when you were angered because you were wronged, totally fine.
And that is the correct answer..

It makes no sense to me either. A country as developed as Norway should be pushing equal treatment in all areas. I don't think there should be discriminations based on gender for crimes committed.
But doesnt this dismiss the idea of a patriarchy? How can a system where men have more power than women judge men harder than women? Sounds more like a matriarchy? :)

I don't think patriarchy means making things harder for women Than men. I think Patriarchy means men rule and only men.
Patriarchy is completely different from sharia law, because sharia law has to do with barbaric punishment.
I think the reason why men are gave harder punishment in the same crime, is because men are physically stronger than women.
But if men rule and it doesn't make it harder for women..how is that bad then?
A patriarchy is the fantasy of a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.
If men hold power, why would they judge harder against men than women? Makes no sense.
Sharia law is a rule where men have more to say than women. If a woman is raped, it is her fault, and she is thrown in jail or even raped some more or stoned if she cant produce a shitload of witnesses. So it's definitely a patriarchal system that favors men.
But again..how can a system which judge men harder than women be a patriarchal system?
Some study needs to be done for this I guess.
