SJWs in London ban heavy winter coats, because some student can't afford them. NO KIDDING.

"Libtardism gone wild...." I need to make a movie...seriously.. Maybe not set in Fort Lauderdale, but instead in central London. A high school there has banned the wearing by their students of heavy winter coats, risking the health and comfort of their majority, because a few kids don't have them.

Check this out:

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/16/uk/poverty-proof-school-gbr-scli-intl/index.html

Here is an excerpt:

"'These coats cause a lot of inequality between our pupils,' headteacher Rebekah Phillips told CNN. 'They stigmatize students and parents who are less well off and struggle financially.' The blacklisted coats sell for as much as $1,200 -- a cost many parents will struggle to afford. 'There has been feedback from children, who say 'Gosh, that is our rent for the month,'' Phillips said. She said her attempt to 'poverty-proof' the school, which has students between the ages of 11 and 16, has been well received by parents. "

IMHO, somebody needs to stigmatize this head teacher with a good swift KICK in the backside. If kids can't learn about the variety of wealth in high school how are they going to do when they hit the real world, where the disparities are far, far greater than whether some people have expensive winter coats, or not. All that this teacher and those like her are doing is creating more misguided SJWs to threaten the natural order of the planet.

The Bible says we will always have the poor among us, and we should do what we can to help, yes, but this is going way overboard. Making some children cold just because others are cold is heading in the exactly wrong direction. What they COULD DO that might help is have a fundraiser to buy these coats for any kid that wants one. .. A bit wrongheaded when there are people starving for not having enough to eat just a few blocks away, but certainly better than banning warmth.

These SJWs are REALLY starting to annoy me. We may have to get some rules out in place banning such insanity before it becomes truly dangerous to society as a whole. This article goes on to say that the school is also providing sanitary napkins to their students who can't afford them. I hope they are designer napkins...

Isn't it strange, the world we live in! My college hasn't done that yet. Hahaha!

It's probably coming though...lol...

Yeah, probably! Get ready 2 get cold

Are you sure they are banning "Heavy winter coats" it kind of sounds like their banning a certain brand, like the superior Canada Goose brand. Not every heavy winter coat costs a thousand buckaroo's.

Does banning a brand make it any more ok? So much for freedom of speech. That was gone a long time ago though wasnt it?

I am very anti brand. The brands are the sweat shop owners, crony capitalists, and fascists using the power of government to create arbitrary rules to stifle competition. Instead, they could educate why brands are a marketing ploy and show children how to critically think for the best value. Then they wouldn't be such good government subjects though. When people fear the government there is tyranny. When the government fears the people there is liberty.

I'm all for free speech and free expression, this topic is very similar to the school uniform as a way to limit prestige status seeking behaviour.
I don't think these kind of measures are very effective but I can't really fault an educational institution for trying to moderate the "War of Fashion Escalation" as like you say critical thinking would definitely be a more useful place for them to put their efforts.

Rather than ban coats they could have had some sort of charity event to raise money to buy they less fortunate kids coats, just saying.

Yea...that's what I said too.
