The Great Deception: MIL + Hollywood = War is totes cool, yo!

Once upon a time, there lived a Giant in a five-sided castle. From the ramparts of this castle, the Giant kept watch across the land, ready to unleash minions to do his deeds, no matter how unsavory. But despite the height of his castle and of himself, the whole land wasn't subjected to his reach. Being ever industrious and powered by ambition, this Giant came up with a plan to team up with another Giant-- but he would have the final word when it came to their shared plans-- which would make the other Giant lots of money, but give him, our Giant, all the power.

This, my friends, is the nicest way I can explain how the Military Complex, housed in the Pentagon, does business with Hollywood, to shape our views and manufacture consent.

I stumbled across a post by Newsbud; they are a non-profit news organization. On the post was this video, and lots of sources.

Going through those sources was a rabbithole all of it's own, of the military influencing our television shows-- from Ice Road Truckers, to the Biggest Loser, to American Idol, Oprah and more, to reflect ideals the military would like to instill in its viewers. You know, society at large.

Or that the military assists in production (hey, is that why the military budget is so high?) so that it can serve as a recruitment tool.

Seriously.

Then there was this; written by a couple researchers and FOIA enthusiasts, it breaks down just how pervasive the Giant's tentacles happen to be:

Let's contemplate that highlighted sentence, shall we?

Hollywood is the propaganda arm of the government. Okay. This explains why so many celebrities* pushed for a certain candidate, the establishment candidate, and if one supported any other candidate, they were pariahs. So, Hollywood stars given a platform that pushed for a candidate that is documented loving her some war, chaos, and slavery, which just happens to require the help of the military to accomplish. What good is a war without an army, right?

True story.

Anyhoo, the gentleman FOIA enthusiast has a lovely website titled SpyCulture, and it houses a veritable trove of documents. Want examples? Awesome.

How about the State Department wanting to use characters from Frozen to help teach kids about climate change?

Disney nixxed the idea. How weird they wouldn't help the State Department and yet give a blind eye to Elsagate?

Or how about the Army put up resources to help the wife of a soldier who managed to get on The Biggest Loser after she got booted off; they wanted to make a point that the wife of a soldier can get military-glam and then surprise her on-tour hubby with the change. Remember ladies, being pretty is the rent we're supposed to pay to exist in this world.

Or how about the FBI's Entertainment Liaison Department? It's there to make sure no one smears the FBI image (well, since Comey, they've done a more than adequate job by themselves) or use the FBI seal without authorization. Oh, also to make sure that fictional agents don't share the same names as real-life agents (and that's pretty damn important, imho).

If you're interested in a treasure trove of documents, the author of National Security Cinema, has made a zip file available of the FOIA stuff used to write his book. You can find it here. The best thing (so far) is the spreadsheet of people/producers/lawyers contacting the FBI for more information regarding their respective projects. From books to movies (Wolf of Wall Street is on the list) their's a catalog of interaction and information.

What does it say when a society is governed by military might, so insidious that it seeps into the mind-numbing crapola on television? People emulate those they admire; if that were an untrue statement, Martha Stewart wouldn't have her own magazine. People copy mannerisms and particular thought patterns when blasted with the same information, day in and day out. And that's what's happening.

How do you manufacture consent for war? Make war movies. Think Top Gun, and how that reinvigorated the military's image when it was released. How do you get new recruits to fight future battles? Make the military look awesome. That's accomplished via movies (hello Transformers) and video games (Call of Duty, HALO) ... it's absolutely insidious that people are manipulated with essentially shiny things, into waging war for the benefits of others.

Some of the most disillusioned people I've talked to are vets, pissed that they were on guard duty for fields of opium poppies in Afghanistan. Opium, which gets manufactured into opium crisis fuel here in the states. It's why there was a move to ban kratom, a plant from the coffee family that treats pain as well as opiates-- it's been used to wean people off opiates. For an entity that has a vested interest in poppy fields overseas, something that could decrease demand of an incredibly addictive substance couldn't be entertained.

This is the world we dwell in, a world where common entertainment is a gateway to militarism and curated consent for war crimes... why else is Obama given a pass and Nobel Peace Prize despite droning shittons of civilians?
