Seeking things to be offended by is the path of misery for yourself and those you interact with.

This is helpful to remember, as I was recently reminded by my own error on another social forum.

If all you can do is look for things to be offended by you will surely find them.

Awareness of choice and the experiences that result from them would be very helpful in these cases. Making more fortunate choices - of which doors to go knocking on.

I like to think that I do not go looking for trouble.

But I am prone to problems too. This is part of it.. mental shortcuts are allowed to run completely on auto pilot. But they stop being helpful if they don´t run alongside patience and effort to understand- carefully.

So here´s what is so funny to me. Too many of us cannot be bothered to apply effort to qualify an action. Environment (social environment for example) reinforces this stupidity. So while people won´t bother to truly understand the intentions of others, or the lack of presumed intention, more people are bothered while becoming a nuisance to those who did not intend to bother anyone in the first place.

Spawning bugs.

So that is a long way of saying that I´m have to stay mindful of habitual response until the pattern is broken.

Some good advice I got many years ago which has saved me from a lot of misery: Take everything as a compliment unless the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming.

Our existence isn't particularly dependent on our state of mind, so much as it is factual information gained by query. While we can view even bad news as good information, as you point out we should, we should most definitely not be Pollyanna.

Thanks!

As you know, @dwinblood, those who are easily offended are the dimwitted spawn of the PC agenda and its architects. These intellectually-retarded dupes are being used to keep us divided, not realizing what's on the other side of the demise of our traditional, ordered European-rooted culture. Even the mightiest of all progressives - the Bolshevik-Communists - eventually ate their own. In a manner of speaking.

Things will not end well for these people.

What is this saying? That people seek to be offended? If not then why point out something that's so out of the ordinary you might as well caution against people seeking to be insulted because there's absolutely no distinction between the two.

Otherwise it's saying that while you're seeking to be insulted that you're following the path of misery and as seeking to be insulted seems like a reasonable miserable choice it's equally reasonable to advise why not try to assume that what is otherwise sought, isn't cause for being offended.

What it seems it's trying to do though is ask people to stop being offended and instead assume otherwise because being insulted is miserable.

Either way, I'm sure it's relevant to all those seekers seeking to be insulted, and everyone they come into contact with.
