Saving Capitalism, More Like Saving Crony Capitalism

in #informationwar6 years ago

Do not watch this movie and if you do make sure you sit down, because it is probably the most dumb movie that is supposed to be about capitalism I have ever seen.

Just to talk about one part that made me say "that's it I am writing about this" was... well let me give a little background, so basically what I was getting from the movie was that capitalism is what we need, but the problem is big business using government to keep them big. (this part I agree with)

The parts that make no sense are all the contradictions like the part I was going to bring up above.

So we complain about big business and government's using laws to keep them on top right? well this lady had a cashier job at McDonald so not to productive for the company, but she said she was making about 1300 a month and that rent was 900 (did not explain how government subsidizing housing and other regulations create this high cost)

So she was happy that we saved capitalism and put a stop to the big business because government raised minimum wage to 15 dollars.........uhm WHAT!!!!! This pissed me off I wish I could talk to that women and tell her so you made it so it would be harder for small companies to get started and compete with the big business by forcing all business to pay 15 dollars minimum? So now companies like McDonald who can easily afford to pay that stay in business why all the small guys go out of business?

That was so stupid I could not believe they put that in the movie, like it's against crony capitalism, but when crony capitalism happens to benefit them it's okay..... Like is that not what big business do?? Shouldn't we be supporting a system that does not benefit the rich or the poor or well anyone, it should be fair nobody get's a advantage unless it is earned.

An earned advantage would be let's say I thought of an idea first so I am the first to market it that would be an advantage over everyone else, but not an unfair advantage either, now an unfair advantage would be if I went and patented that idea and made it so nobody could copy it.

Now I have an unfair advantage and can charge whatever I want for the product, but if things were fair someone could gladly copy my idea and sell it cheaper or improve it.

So it's official saving capitalism is now Saving Crony Capitalism Thanks for reading guys and gals please upvote, follow, and leave your thoughts in the comment section.

I tend to agree with the general thrust of your article but where you talk about advantages I don't agree at all.
I'm an inventor and have about 100 inventions on paper many of which could greatly improve our lifestyles. However I have long given up on patenting, developing or marketing them. (You might wonder why)

Well if there's nothing to be gained by inventing things that would improve peoples lives then why bother?
Coming up with new innovative products takes talent, work , time and money. You have to invest all this before you receive a dime in return.

It used to be the case that if you did all this and then managed to get a patent (which can also take a lot of time and money) you could then go into production and marketing (more time and money)for a limited time in the knowledge no one else could copy your invention and produce it at a lower cost( since they don't need to recoup the initial cost which you've paid for.) putting you out of business. leaving you much worse off than if you'd never invented anything.
Even then if someone did infringe your patent you would have to take them to court (which can cost big money and if you haven't got it your out of luck).

The purpose of the patent system was to encourage people to invent by giving them an window if time to recoup their costs and earn a living, and though it's a high risk business is was generally successful.

That was bad enough but these days things have gotten a lot worse for the small time inventor. Now most patent agents and even the patent office itself have become corrupted to the point that if you submit an invention which some big corporation is interested in the patent office will simply award the patent to them instead of you.

So unless this situation changes soon (and I doubt that it will) none of my inventions will ever see the light of day and the World will be that less well off as a result. I would rather take them to my grave than to give them away for free to these corporations.

Sorry if I've gone a bit off topic

I think you were misinformed about patents. What patents actually do is limit competition and make innovation impossible. Without patents things would still be invented because you will be rewarded for your invention by being the first one to the market and imitators just like in music do not take away the consumers, sure they might take some, but not often. https://mises.org/wire/yet-another-study-finds-patents-do-not-encourage-innovation
You don't need to make it so nobody else can copy your work to invent something, also I think stopping someone from copying your idea is wrong, it's like if you sing a song and I hear you sing it shouldn't I be able to sing it to whether or not you have a piece of paper that says you own the song? I don't think you can own Ideas you can own the product of your Idea, but that is the thing if you own the book you wrote, then I can own the same book if I buy it or write the words down myself. i

Back to being rewarded though, you don't need a patent to be rewarded you just have to be the first one with the Idea. It's like facebook you could try to copy it, but good luck facebook did it first.

Facebook is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. It wasn't invented by Zuck. He stole the idea from the original inventors who've been suing him ever since.

It's not about stopping people from using an invention. It's about paying the inventor a small share of the profit from the sales of their invention.

Inventors can't legally stop anyone from using or selling their inventions as long as they pay for the privilege, just like shopkeepers can't stop you from taking any of the good for sale in their shops as long as you pay for them.

This libertarian notion that the first to market should get the rewards would in most cases lead to the producer/s, the marketer/s and retailers getting all the rewards while the inventor gets nothing.
Who's going to pay the inventor, and why would they?

You can't steal an idea, I have to buy the shoe because it is the product that he made or paid for, if I made or payed for a show I would be the only one with that shoe. An idea is much different If you sing a song and I hear it I know own a copy of that song, and I should be able to do whatever I want with my copy and for you to stop me and tell me I must pay you for the song you thought of is wrong.

So you're saying that if you make a shoe you should get paid for it. But if you create a song, a work of art or an invention you should get nothing for it.
And you think that's fair?

If I create a song and can sing it well I probably will get paid for it, but if someone else sings the same song better then they should be able to be paid as well. A shoe is a real object it's not a thought, two people can have the same Idea if someone starts a retail store should they be allowed to patent that idea a charge everyone a fee for starting retail stores because he thought of the idea? no way, but he can charge for a retail property that he built or bought so yes that is obviously fair and moral

So lets say I'm living in a gutter cause I can't get a job because of my skin colour (blue).
I write the words and music of a song I just created. I can't sing 'cause I'm deaf and dumb.

A passer by who happens to be a singer copies it down and goes straight to a studio and records it. The next week it's released on CD and goes straight to the top of the charts all over the world.

Now I begin to see an hear (even though I'm deaf..lol) most of the passers by singing it and dancing to it, I see the "singer" pass by in a stretch Limo but he ignores me.

I'm feeling really hungry now since I haven't had anything to eat for days. I ask some of these people who are singing and dancing to my song for some food or money to buy some, but they say get lost you blue piece of sh*t and so I die of starvation.

What do you think of that story. It might sound unlikely but I'm sure that similar stories happen all the time.

What could the blue man have done differently so he could at least get some compensation for adding so much happiness to the World by creating this song?

so you think you should be compensated for people knowing words that you knew first? If I sing happy birthday dear whoever should I have to compensate the creator if he demanded it?

you realize that a lot of songs are no patented it's just who ever likes the imitator over the creator? Here check this out

Songs are not actually patented. You can't acquire a patent on a song.
Instead they're copyrighted. The criteria for acquiring the copyright of a song is the first person to publish or make it known publicly has claim to the copyright and can therefore claim a fee or royalty from those who exploit it commercially.
And like patents a copyright holder cannot stop anyone from exploiting it unless that refuse to pay the royalty.
It's all about VALUE. A shoe has value. (If no one designed or made any shoes we'd all be walking barefoot) A song has value (If no one wrote or composed any songs we would have no music) A work of art has value (If no one created them we'd have no art) An invention has value (again if no one created them we'd be living pre stone age)

The value of anything can be measured by how much it is desired by humanity (demand) and it's availability(supply)

To be continues

Yes an INVENTION has value because it is physical the IDEA of an invention has 0 value. I can say oh id like to go to the moon that means nothing unless I actually do it make sense?

Netflix is a leftist propoganda machine. Socialist Democrats have been attempting to kill market based economies all over the world.

Steadily increasing minimum wage, and city income tax, will eventually turn the big liberal cities into economic hellholes that people have to flee from. It's a special kind of idiocy.
