Do You Think People like Robinhood Are Good For Society?

Making Outlaws a Hero!

Sometimes I find it difficult to take a stand against oultlaws and robbers too. Does it happen with you too? In recent past, there have been very cruel and fierce robbers in India like Bhupat Singh of Gujarat or Man Singh of Chambal Valley who are known as Robinhood of India. These robbers were very kind and helping to the economically poor & weaker section of the society and used to respect village women and treated them with utmost dignity. In fact, even today, Man Singh is worshipped as God and has a temple dedicated to him.

Is it good for a society to glorify characters like Robinhood?

I haven't reached to any conclusion on this question yet.

Recent Tinder murder at Jaipur was shocking

If you tend to favour Robinhood type characters, I would like you to watch the following video. This is an interview of the accused of a recent Tinder murder in the State capital Jaipur. Notice, how casually she talks about the thousands of crime she has committed and then term it as some social service:

Video credit: Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj

In India, acts like illicit sex, trafficking and prostitution are considered illegal and hence a crime. Does this make cheating and exploiting people who commit crimes like these fair? This lady has no remorse for what she did and wants to be treated like a hero for doing a "social good" by deceiving and scamming these "criminals"!

Feminism Bias

This video interview was done by journalist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj who is also an activist to draw attention towards the bias in gender laws in India which always favour women. This is unintended fallout of a strong Feminism movement. Ms. Bhardwaj is working hard against Section 497 & 498 of IPC that unduly protects women. To highlight the injustice caused by India’s anti-dowry act and to give equal voice to both genders, she even prepared a documentary called Martyrs of Mariage.

This accused lady was always successful to take advantage of laws favouring women and will probably walk scot free again to commit more such crimes.

I don't know what to say here except to be more cautious while dating strangers ...esp. when using online services like Tinder. I think such crimes are possible anywhere. I came across another Tinder murder in another part of the globe a couple of years back:

So coming back to my original question:

  • Do you really think people like Robinhood are ideal characters in our society?
  • Do you adore Robinhood?
Sort:

This is a very interesting question. With as many nuances as examples and heads in the world.
Particularly I believe that the laws must be fulfilled, and if someone is against them, he must pay for it, so in his mind he feels that what he is doing is justified.
But, generally, this type of robin hood type people have seen a certain level of injustice that is what leads them to do what they do. It is not justified to kill, murder, steal, and other crimes, but what happens when those who must enforce the laws do not comply? to whom is that complaint or complaint made? It is a complex question, because it is this impunity that often leads some to go against the system.
That is why I say that the issue raised in this opportunity is quite complex to analyze. And that is why they are very interesting

Mi respuesta es no, no se puede andar asasinando personas, para beneficios de otras, no se puede tomar la justicia por sus propias manos, para eso estan las leyes y la justicia, cariños y besos @xyzashu.

People like Robinhood or specifically the robbers you mentioned about above maybe doing good for the society but they way of doing the same is not correct. I think they can find out some more formalized ways of getting money and then giving back to the needful people of society.

People working in NGOs do the same, but in a proper and organized manner. I agree that there source of income might be limited, but doing it by looting from other people might not be the correct approach. We can highlight the wrong members of the society in more formal, legal and organized ways.

Story of that Tinder girl is shocking too. You cannot kill people like this and call it social service. If they have so much guts, why not raise their voice and fight in proper way?

I adore Robin Hood and I think the end may justify the means but that is not always the case.

For example, I think the only reason for killing someone is to avoid more people to die. And I think torture should never be allowed.

I think some minor ilegalities should be absolved in case they have the purpose to avoid or dennounce a crime. For example, leaking documents to dennounce a crime.

What is a bounty exactly?

A bounty is money sent to a post to be distributed to the users commenting on it. It provides a way to reward users directly and works in addition to the steem/sbd they receive from the blockchain. It works independently of SteemPower.

You create a bounty by sending any amount of sbd/steem to @steem-bounty together with a post-url in the memo.

How can I earn a bounty Users are then competing for the bounty by writing their answers to the post in comments that will achieve upvotes from the community and especially the bounty creator. The money of the bounty gets distributed to all top level comments of the post at the same time when the post is paid out (7 Days after it was written). How much everyone gets depends on the votes the comments received. The sender of the bounties votes are weighted higher so that she decideds where 80% of the bounty money goes and all other votes determine the rest.

@steem-bounty does all of this for you automatically. You can use this service to automatically pay out a challenge, ask a hard question or simply to reward the people that interact with you.

Yes i do admire robinhood mainly because he is helping the poor.
I believed that if a thief is stealing(especially from the rich and corrupt people) to help people is not wrong.they are more than ideal.
