New trend among ICO projects: "WE HAVE BEEN HACKED!"
Are you familiar with that scary announcement? In the last few months, several ICO projects announced a message like this one. It is usually a matter of Ethereum wallet security, but i have heard some other stories as well. Some of these projects come back with minor loss, some never do.
There are examples like Coindash, Veritaserum and most recent one Enigma. I am sure most of you have been effected with these hack incidents like me. I don´t want to go into details and write about each ICOs story. My real concern here is that this rare occurrence became so normal, it makes me question some stuff.
When such a claim made, the community seems to be accepting it almost without any question. Why don´t we ask for some proofs? Isn´t it their responsibility to clear the air and convince every single investor? This is not an accusation to any project, but it might have happened in the past that some scammers used that technique to make easy money, and this will surely be used again if we don´t wake up.
I believe this is the worst art of ICO world. When things don´t go well, there is not much you can actually do about it. There is no government, bank or even a lawyer that can help you with the matter, but we can at least be more cautious and investigate matters as best as we can. For example, people behind suspicious incidents should be revealed for safer future for us all. Experienced users who do freelance work for bounty programs should avoid working for same people again. In fact, they should be more selective when it comes to promoting ICO projects. I also believe that steemit is a great place to keep each other updated for ICO reviews.

Bu anons size tanidik geliyor mu? Son birkac aydir, cok sayida ICO projesi buna benzer mesajlar yayinladi. Genelde Ethereum cuzdanlarinin ele gecirilmesi ile olan bu hack olaylari, bazen farkli sekillerde de gerceklesebiliyor. Bu projelerin bir kismi kucuk kayiplarla geri gelirken, bazilari tamamen yok oldu.
Bu hack olaylarindan bazilari Coindash, Veritaserum ve daha yeni gerceklesen Enigma. Tahmin ediyorum ki bir cogunuz su veya bu sekilde bu Hack olaylarindan etkilendiniz benim gibi. Detaylara girip bu coinler ile ilgili ayri ayri bilgiler yazmayacagim. Cunku beni burada asil tedirgin eden sey nadiren gerceklesen boylesine buyuk bir olayin cok siradanlasmasi. Bu durum kafamda bazi soru isaretleri olusturuyor.
Boyle bir olayin gerceklestigi iddia edildiginde, kriptopara camiasi bunu kolayca kabulleniyor. Neden olayin nasil gerceklestigi ile ilgili detaylari arastirip kanitlar sunulmasini istemiyoruz? Butun soru isaretlerini giderip, yatirimcilarin icindeki supheleri gidermek bu projeyi yurutenlerin en dogal vazifesi degil mi? Burada herhangi bir projeye suclama yapmiyorum, ama simdiye kadar gerceklesen bu gibi olaylardan herhangi biri dolandiricilarin para calmak icin kullandigi bir yontem olabilir. Boyle bir ihtimal gecmiste var oldugu gibi, gelecekte basimiza gelecegi hemen hemen kesin gozukuyor.

Isin ayrintilarini ogrenebilir en derin sekilde arastirabiliriz. Mesela bu tarz supheli olaylarin gerceklestigi projelerin arkasindaki isimler ifsa edilebilir. Bu, toplulugun ileride ayni kisiler tarafindan baslatilan projelere yanasmasina engel olacaktir. Ayni zamanda bounty islerinde gorev alan daha deneyimli arkadaslarada is dusuyor. Supheli duran projelerde yer alip bunlarin tanitimlarini yapmamak icin is etigine sahip cikmalari gerekiyor. Ayrica, steemit platformunun birbirimizi olabildigince guncel tutabilmek icin harika bir sans sundugunu dusunuyorum.

It's not a new trend. It's just a convenient way to sweep incompetence, malfeasance and theft under the rug.
Totally agree and I would say that when time goes on they will be able to prevent it much better.
I agree. That's why I typically wait at least 3 months before investing in an ICO. Prices are generally higher anyway so you don't get a fair price. Hacking is never going to stop if a vulnerability is found. The way to avoid that, is once again to wait until it's safe to get it because if you enter too early, there are going to be bugs. It's like buying a new phone. You need to wait until they release a new update before buying it because often times, the first release is really buggy or unstable. "Good things come to those who wait."
