WELLS OF TANIT PRESS. IBIZA.podcasts.
Hi,
I would love to introduce you all to some podcasts made by an english friend of mine named Joanna Hruby (https://joannahruby.wordpress.com/). She goes into the history of Ibiza in a very personal way but also well researched.
I see so much published about Ibiza that is only promoting the hedonistic party-get-lost tag that I feel a real need to share this to all those who really want to know the complex personality of this place.
I travel to many places in the world and when I´m asked where I´m from and I say Ibiza, most of the time I have to hear about this wild party place they have heard of and I, in a way, feel hurt. It´s as if that is all it´s ever known for. Ibiza is a place with a complex personality, you can´t come here on Holiday once or twice and feel you know it. I guess that can be applied to anywhere in the world, of course. Even more so to places who have a worldwide reputation for one aspect. All the other layers get pressed into this one. Diversity is in this way, overlooked. It´s all fast, immediate, no time to consider the contradictions and the richness they bring.
I praise the work of people who, like in this case, invest their own creativity and personality into such an effort to bring out this diversity of personality of a place. It´s a way of weaving what one learns with one´s own experience.
As I say this about a place I find this also goes for people and interactions. If we can take the time to relate to the different aspects of a person we can weave a good relationship.
So, I hope that sharing this series of Podcasts you will look into this window Joanna Hruby offers and get a more diverse understanding of this land I love and come from.
