CHICKEN, CHICKEN WHAT NOW?

Here is our entry into the new Homesteading Photography Contest being run by @knowledge-seeker.
Capt'n snapped this shot of one of our six charismatic girls a few weeks ago.

We have been keeping chickens for a little over three years now and despite the labour that often comes with keeping any stock animal healthy and happy we don't see how we could ever go back to shop bought eggs again.
And we find it is a very positive environment for our two-year-old daughter to have animals on the homestead.
If only we had more space or our own land we would surely be filling it up with many other friends.

    This picture made me smile! It looks like the chickens looking over something and waiting on you. I would agree with you that there is nothing like a farm fresh egg. The eggs from the store do not taste near as good and it is great for kids to grow up around the farm animals.
