Turkey Broth - ALWAYS Putting Up HEALTHY Food In The Pantry!

One of the best perks of living on the homestead is that you're always able to raise and grow your own healthy food. You know what is and is not going into that food. That gives you a feeling of satisfaction that won't compare easily with other tasks in life.

ENJOY THE VIDEO

In an age where so much of our food is really a mystery in terms of where it comes from and what it's made from, food that you can be sure about is rare.

Stock or broth is something that often goes into our pantry and that is especially true when it comes to our birds. We raise chickens and turkeys on the homestead. We will also make lamb broth when we butcher sheep as well.

Join Jaimie in making some turkey broth today.

Turkey is our favorite broth that we make. Do you have a a favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

Having turkey broth on hand will be useful for soup in the winter. I know it's handy to have for a quick lunch or dinner in our house. Our family really likes soup. @ironshield

I like making rice with it.

Turkey is our fav as well. When it's done I put it in coffee cups and have everyone drink a cup. I only have 1 naysayer but he's learning to like it. As my dad would say, "it's good for what ails you!" :)

It's natures medicine! Yep!

Thanks for sharing! I read through a couple times.... Did I miss the processing time? Was it 20 or 25 minutes?

Because of cool down times, the whole process takes most of the day. First you are pressure cooking the bird, then cool down. Then you are canning the jars of broth....then cool down before you can open back up your canner and take out your jars. You need to let your pressure come down naturally. If you don't do this you risk cracking your jars.

Love seeing Jaimie in the kitchen, she is rocking homesteading off grid!

She loves cooking!
