First mushroom harvest for us! A couple of hours of wandering inthe Pine forest gave me a great workout and the bonus of a free feed or two or three...

In the basket are delicious Saffron Milk Caps (Lactarius deliciosus) and Laccarias (Laccaria sp).

This lot are being dried as I type and the house is full of the smell of mushrooms...

I've learned of a few other edibles out that way so might zip out there on Friday!

Nice :)
My brother, @danclarke just introduced me to both of those yesterday.
The laccarias are very earthy.
Not sure how long the season lasts, but I might have to meet him in Kuitpo for a good forage.

If you really crisp the laccarias up by dry frying, then add butter and salt to the pan for the last 10 seconds, they kinda taste like bacon! Maybe Henry would like them then;)

Im going to give it a go afyer Fridays forage. Thanks!

Kuitpo is great. Im at the other end of the earth

Not a problem,

Matt or I will let you know if we have a daytime meetup :)

I like mushrooms, if in cooking and when eaten tastes good, thanks for information

Interesting. Is there a more commercial type of mushroom these Saffron Milk Caps compare to flavor wise? I am trying to imagine what they taste like, they look amazing!

Theyve got their own taste. I dont knowif theyre grown commercially here
