Exciting things are on the horizon, friends!

We relish this winter time to finish projects and organize and dream for the coming year. The house plans are moving along well- Ini is dedicating much time to reading up on what he will need to know to be the contractor for this...

Passive Solar Post & Beam Straw Bale Infill Natural Home!!!

We've talked a bit about our plans to have interns this year, ones who will join us on the land for a holistic immersion in Natural building, establishing and tending Food forests and perennial and annual gardens and now we're putting it out to our wider circles.

We've made a post on our website:

2019 Straw Bale Building

-and-

2019 Interns

Once we refine it and flesh it out a bit, we'll start putting it up on other websites and onto sites like permies.com. (Open to suggestions if you know of other spots we can put it as well!)

Wider Circles

Like one of our favorite groups, Rising Appalachia, sings,

We're moving in wider circles
We're opening our circle

So are we this year!

We want to invite the community in to share in this process. Natural building, especially, is a people's building technique and is meant to be done together and in community and we are stoked to begin this process!!

This is so good!!!

A lot of folk do that here in Victoria, I had some friends who regularly held straw-bale building workshops. It’s a great way to learn (I learn best through doing, for example), and a great way to get extra hands to help you build also.

Win-Win all round!!!!!

Awesome, winter is a great time to tweak what we plan to do come spring. Have fun!

Oh, and I'm stoked to be following it here! So exciting, when an awesome building is going up. :-)

Two BIG posts from y'all today! How exciting you're using your home to help folks learn!

Glad to have you back @mountainjewel!
Looks like you're making some good moves forward to getting your Straw Bale House built. Exciting!
I do wish I lived closer. I feel very fortunate that I was able to build our home in a community that worked together to build each others homes. It was a wonderful experience and I learned so much.
We did some strawbale building with our attached root cellar as our 1st project which was just 2 walls.
rootcellar west side.jpg
rootceller north wall.jpg
Then our header house which had 3 walls and a door and last
Our well house which had 4 walls a door and 2 windows.
We were fortunate to have a sand pit right in our yard so we created a sunken garden and used the sand for the cement work on the straw bale building.
I love that method and it is so applicable here with the readily available building material.
Good luck on your build and I'll be watching for the updates.

Thank you so much for participating in the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!

So glad to see you back with us :) ox Love St Johns Wort....I would love to buy a bottle! I didn't know you could use it topically and for sore muscles, really a miracle medicine

yes! (and sorry this was a duplicate post so I'm in the process of changing it ;) - but per the st john's wort- I left some at your place one year.. I'm not sure anyone ever knew what it was for :) be sure to bring some jars when you come this summer and we'll infuse some together that you can take home with you! Such miracle medicine. Love you! Looking forward to your post tomorrow XOXO

Love this! I'd love to come out and learn from y'all. I'm looking to doing something similar. I'm just a one man operation right now, and wish to get some basics established on my land to make it nicer for guests before offering something. I have no infrastructure on my land yet. Getting a water system and shower house started is my first priority. What are your thoughts?
