HOMESTEAD UPDATE-GARDENING, HONEY BEE TREE, GINSENG AND 5 LEAF CLOVERS
A PRODUCTIVE DAY
That's what we had yesterday as we continued work on the garden.
All in all, we were able to plant the sweet peppers, radishes, and, some carrots. However, we ran into issues once again as the ground was still too wet to plant the center of the garden. It was just too muddy and I feel we may have messed up the soil walking through it.
We will continue to work on the garden today and hopefully by the end of this weekend we will have all of our veggies planted.
A HONEY BEE TREE FOUND
After the garden work ground(pun intended 😁) to a halt we decided to try our luck one last time hunting morel mushrooms. And while we had no luck finding any....we found something AMAZING!!!
This tree is the home to probably thousands or tens of thousands of honey bees.
This golf ball sized hole is their front door and the only hole on the tree I could find. There were no cracks or breaks in the trunk which means it is a pretty healthy tree and should make a great home for these bees for a long time to come.
WHO'S FEELING LUCKY?
After the walk through the woods, we were all hungry and decided to have a picnic. During the picnic, I managed to find two five leaf clovers and a four leaf clover!
I gave them all to Evan, my son, who was happy to have them. After our picnic we headed back to the cabin.
GINSENG'S A POPPIN'
Once back at the cabin, we had a leisurely day. We decided to go and see if we could find any new ginseng plants that we hadn't found previously. It is not ginseng season and we would never pull our agency so we are simply looking to see what we can find.
