Curious about home/unschooling? Here I interviewed Dayna Martin and we talked about it in depth. Hope you enjoy!

Honeschool is needed nowadays. Going outside to socialized may jeopardized the live of your child. Since terrorist activity is spreading like a wild fire.

i certainly do not do it out of fear for being around others. i want them to actually learn and gain skills.

Effectively homeschooling a child requires discipline. I am an avid supporter of such; however, most parents who work outside the home, find this an impossibility.

Children who are home-schooled function on a more-natural ordered time clock; unlike kids who are up at 5 a.m. to be out by 6 or 7 a.m. to arrive by 8.

Ideally, homeschooled children start their school day around 10 a.m.

After researching in depth, I am a fan of unschooling even more so.

On the surface this has a free-willy sound to it; but, actually requires more detailed lesson plans to teach/learn all the major objectives required.

Lastly, being able to teach is only a portion of successfully homeschooling a child. Patience is extremely vital; and, staying on task, with a formal plan requires discipline and perseverance beyond measure; especially for children who may whine in resistance at having to do the work.

Let's face it; socialism today is on steroids. Of course, anything a child learns, can be used by the parent as a teachable-moment opportunity, they may not otherwise get, if sheltered from these views.

Of course, keeping them sheltered from things that are not age-appropriate for their ability to comprehend is a good thing.

Public education exposes them to a wider view of the world earlier on, i.e. bullying.

Thanks for this post.

Peace.

Thanks! What if I told you there is a way to raise a responsible, respectful child, without forcing them to do anything except respect certain boundaries? See, that is one of the ways unschooling differs from home schooling. You let go of trying to control or push knowledge on your children. You trust in their natural passion to learn. I've seen it work with many families. It intersects with a thing called "peaceful parenting" that is neither permissive parenting or authoritarian parenting. It relies quite a bit on natural consequences, which is to allow your child to experience the pain of disappointment, mistakes, etc. I've written extensively on this, if you want to look at my blog.

Thanks @scottermonkey! I would believe you; as your premise makes much sense!

I, too have observed how balanced unschooled children are. I was astonished to learn that it's a quiet movement trumping the curriculum-structured homeschooling.

I assure you, in a stable home, with great values, children would learn EVERYTHING they need to function in society; because, they would be drawn to LEARN the essentials of which they're interested.

Now, granted, this requires more 'structure' than met on the surface. It may sound like a 'sleep til noon...eat donuts...watch tv...' type of life; but hardly. Many do not even watch television.

Thanks for sharing!

Peace.

Personally it depends how well the parents homeschool as well as whether they are strict and keep them home a lot, or let their kids go out to socialise and make friends. If the parents are smart and have a good intelligence, then the kids can learn all they need and be taught well.

i dont disagree entirely. but i think that even parents with low skills could do it if they use the internet tools available to them. any day in homeschooling is better than a good day at school.

very well said. I very much agree!

This deserves some attention. Upvoted and resteemed...

i live in a community where people homeschool their kids together. personally, i think that homeschooling or unschooling or any type of roadschooling and so on is better then the normal bureaucratic system only if it is done with other people, having still some social characteristics. otherwise, homeschooling in your private house with no other kids to play around i find it a failure..

Video may not be playable. Could be my device but i recommend you make sure. It works on your website.

thank you mr scott! got it

I'm just seeing this after Dayna posted in on fb. btw How / why did you get the boot from fb?
