Qualcomm introduced its new platform in May
Microsoft is in the process of developing the next generation of its HoloLens VR helmet, with the first indications for some aspects of the device already available, according to Windows Central. One of the biggest changes was to switch from Intel to ARM processors, with a new rumor that Microsoft could bet on the Qualcomm XR1 chipset.

Citing anonymous sources, Engadget reports that the newly announced platform, which focuses on high-quality VR and AR experiences that will power HoloLens 2.

Qualcomm introduced its new platform in May as it is specifically designed for AR and VR devices. XR1 keeps track of head movements, special sound and 4K video at 60 fps (frames per second). A separate AI engine is also built into the machine learning load.

At the Build 2018 conference, Microsoft confirmed the presence of Project Kinect sensors in HoloLens 2, which will offer new features to the helmet.
