1,000,000 Acres of National Park
The Blue Mountains are less than an hours drive from Sydney's CBD, and it is a popular weekend retreat and home to around 50,000 people. It has huge expanses of bush land, features Sandstone cliffs and some wonderful restaurants and guest houses. It has a thriving artistic community, and is mainly around 1000 ft above sea level, so it isn't that cold even in winter.

The Blue Mountains, are named as blue due to the time of Captain Cook discovering Australia, they thought the Mountains shimmering in the distance where blue shimmering in the light. Perhaps they should be called the Green Mountains, because the bush that is colour of the bush. We recently enjoyed a 2 night mini holiday weekend visiting the local restaurants, and exploring some bush trails.

We stayed in a 100 year old historic home, that has been turned into a lovely and comfortable guest house.

White Cockatoo These are beautiful and intelligent birds, that are worth more $10000 if you could take them overseas, but they are relatively common in the Blue Mountains. (Note- All Australian Wildlife is Protected and you can't take them out of the country or keep them as pets. )

Those are some breath taking views; glade you went outside and enjoyed them. I have always been a really big fan of waterfalls. I just love the sound they make in the background and the way water flows down them.
